About this listen

INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“Part personal chronicle and part political journey…a candid assessment of some of her colleagues in the White House and the media.” —The Washington Post

Among the Trump era’s savviest insiders, one name stands especially tall: Kellyanne.

As a highly respected pollster for corporate and Republican clients and a frequent television talk show guest, Kellyanne Conway had already established herself as one of the brightest lights on the national political scene when Donald Trump asked her to run his presidential campaign. She agreed, delivering him to the White House, becoming the first woman in American history to manage a winning presidential campaign, and changing the American landscape forever. Who she is, how she did it, and who tried to stop her is a fascinating story of personal triumph and political intrigue that has never been told…until now.

In Here’s The Deal, Kellyanne takes you on a journey all the way to the White House and beyond with her trademark sharp wit, raw honesty, and level eye. It’s all here: what it’s like to be dissected on national television. How to outsmart the media mob. How to outclass the crazy critics. How to survive and succeed male-dominated industries. What happens when the perils of social media really hit home. And what happens when the divisions across the country start playing out in one’s own family.

In this open and vulnerable account, Kellyanne turns the camera on herself. What she has to share—about our politics, about the media, about her time in the White House, and about her personal journey—is an astonishing glimpse of visibility and vulnerability, of professional and personal highs and lows, and ultimately, of triumph.

Kellyanne is a talented pollster and campaign operative. She was a true insider in the Trump campaign and White House. Her background is different from that of most Washington insiders. All that makes for an interesting listen. A long but interesting listen.

Kellyanne gives lots - and lots - and lots of behind the scenes info about the Trump campaign and the Trump White House. There are a couple of chapters on issues - notably drugs and abortion. Plus her interesting personal bio, of course.

Throughout the book, there are a lot of people that Kellyanne doesn't like. And she'll let you know that in great detail. It gets a bit over the top. She might have been better off cutting some of that dislike and either having a shorter book or possibly more focus on people she likes.

On the performance, Kellyanne narrates it herself. That's good and bad. The good: She adds her own emphasis and makes it a truly personal experience. The bad: She's not a professional narrator and she frequently swallows words. I had to rewind quite a bit to hear it all.

But it's definitely a worthwhile listen.

Overall I loved this book. Kelly Anne told a concise story in a way that didn’t brag and was humble but gave herself the credit she deserved for what she accomplished not only in her life pre-Donald Trump but during his campaign and her years in the White House. It never lost my interest and knowing a little of what went on during the Trump years concerning Trump, his election, her husband’s tweets and her daughter’s problems, I couldn’t wait to hear about what she’s been very quiet about. She didn’t disappoint and pretty much laid out all the emotional and political landmines she had to navigate.

I was happy to see the book was narrated by her. If I have any criticism of the book, her narration was not as good as I expected. She had a tendency to have weird pauses due to punctuation and also over-enunciated at times which didn’t sound natural. I don’t know if that was because of direction she received or her decision but it took one star off the narration. One other small criticism is that at times she went back and forth in time and at times it was difficult to figure out what year and when an event she was talking about happened. Didn’t mind the going back and forth so much, just wish she’d mention the date and the year. Often it was just the date.

Other than these minor things, I thought the book was really good. It gave good insight on a lot of things going on behind the scenes, and it was never boring. Hoping we see more of her in the months and years ahead.

Such a wonderful book, especially read by the author made it very personal! Many struggles endured by every working mom, as I'm one of them, felt relieved and comforted as I'm not alone. Very insightful as what's happening during last four years, how Trump didn't win election for 2020 despite his great accomplishments. Very much appreciate Kellyanne shared the lights on so many unresolved questions, and darkness of Washington circle.

Thanks for sharing the insights and experience!

Loved every second. My husband who has no patience for audiobooks thought it the best he’s ever listened to. So much respect for Kellyanne. Hoping she remains in the Republican political theater!

Loved every word and so grateful Kellyanne Conway is bold and brave enough to share her story with the world. So well written, you are left wanting to know more and look forward to seeing what she does with the next chapter of her life post White House. Delighted that it is read by the author herself!
