About this listen

Duty demands he wed her. A vow requires him to hunt her. Desire compels him to protect her.

For a man who has no intention of wedding anytime soon, if ever, Thor MacLeod finds himself submitting to an unwanted marriage in one moment and obliged to hunt down his new wife in the next—all in the name of protecting his family. The task seems simple enough: Find the lass accused of treason who stabbed him and then fled after their vows, return her to his commander, and then have their union dissolved. But nothing is ever simple when it comes to beguiling lasses like the fiery-haired woman he wed. Though he made a vow to never again be led by desire, the woman is proving herself to be brave and true, and suddenly, Thor is forced to question if what he feels is more than yearning, and if so, what price is he willing to pay for matters of the heart.

Traded by her father to resolve the taxes he owes the king’s son, Isolde Fitzalan’s biggest concern is protecting herself and her younger sister. So when her sister is sold off to a lord by the king’s son and Isolde is offered the chance to discover her sister’s whereabouts in return for wedding a stranger, she reluctantly agrees. But just because she was obliged to take the Highlander as a husband doesn’t mean she intends to keep the warrior around. The one thing life has taught her about men is that they cannot be trusted. Yet, when the choice is life or death, and she finds herself betrayed at every turn, putting her faith in the seemingly honorable man may be the only way to survive.

Different

A story from a unique perspective because the FH is a witch who hasn’t learned how to use her powers. I normally don’t read tales of witchcraft, etc. but the author focuses on the human emotions rather than the paranormal. The MH isn’t bothered as much about the woman’s abilities but is focused on protecting his family.
It’s a cat-and-mouse game with the MH trying to find out the truth while at the same time protecting his heart. The FH is hiding her secrets and motives but also becoming emotionally attached.
Even though the story moves quickly, I felt that it would sometimes drag. In my opinion it’s not as good as the first two books in the series. The author doesn’t say so, but I expect a book about Rolland in the future.
The narrator is excellent.

Love Conquers All

This story was romantic and exciting all at the same time, which made this audiobook to enjoyable to stop listening.
The way the female lead portrayed her fighting ability and her protective nature just like her husband’s, was unexpected especially during the 14th century; and, Thor’s mom with warrior-like abilities as well just put another layer of icing on an already great read.
I love how the author brings in the clans and their beliefs. As a Scottish history nerd, the highlands are my favorite part along with all of the wee folk, fairies, etc.

Thank you, Julie and Tim Campbell!

Thor McLeod of Skye gets tricked into
marrying Isolde. Isolde gets traded by
her Father to pay back taxes. Isolde has
powers that she hasn't mastered yet. The
evil Carrick wants to take daughters and make
them his. I loved Thor, he has a kind, loving
heart and tries to get to the truth. Get ready
to see if Isolde and Thor can overcome all
the drama.

Story is good, narrator is enjoyable to listen to.

This is an enjoyable book to listen to. The narrator does a great job with the male voices, I do wish they would get females for the female voices because those honestly don’t sound very good. But I still enjoy listening to Timothy Campbell do the narration. The storyline is a good one, I do wish there was a little bit more action, and I wish in the story that some of the character connections would be explained a little bit more.

I really enjoy Johnstone’s work. Very entertaining. Light. Easy. Perfect for car rides and crocheting.

Good, but predictable story

This story is very similar to other stories, but with a twist of “magic”. Timothy Campbell, is such a good actor, making the story come alive!

Great narrator!

Love the story, loved Thor but the book does not end well it ends to abruptly. A 2 minute epilogue does not do enough for the ending.
I think there should be more for the ending.
Really felt let down with this one.
