Both the storyteller and the writer put some great effort into this. The big difference between this audio book and other audio books, is actually that this is much better. I do not always enjoy all audiobooks, but this stuck out. And since it did, I began listening to it. It was some of the best time I spent, particularly since I was doing some other things in the meantime.

This is a fascinating combo book that contains tons of information about slaves, sex lives, prostitutes, emperors, soldiers, families, habits, and structures in the ancient Roman world. Very good book. 12 hours long. Good enough for me.

Cool! Have you ever before listened to a book like this? This specific audiobook was definitely well worth listening to, in my view. I managed to comprehend everything plainly, not only because the narrator pronounced the terms very well, but also since the information in it included new facts to be learned.

The writer really understands how to state it perfectly. This is an exciting audio book. Thus, the 5 star rating I'm posting. Despite of the writer's knowledge about the idea, the storyteller was still the element I was most impressed with. This is what really sold me on the writer's book.

I have absolutely no complaints about this particular audiobook. If I would have to outline it, it would be simply in 1 term: Excellent! The articulation of the words in this particular audiobook was excellent, as well as all the info contained in it. Based on that, I am really happy that I got the book. It was actually worth my time.

It's great to see large books appear out of nowhere, so I can use my credit wisely. These books make the Audible book store better. Roman history is an interesting subject, so that was a no-brainer for me.

This is great

Books like these are great. I loved the narrator. Brandon Woodall makes history come to life. That can be said. I loved the stories too, the facts, the historical background, and all the little dirty secrets of these great emperors, the good and the bad.

Very nice

The 5 stars really should be 6 stars. Yes, that's it. You heard me. I believe it's so good that it should have 6 stars. There were so many points in this book that I didn't know before. I am glad I got it. It was well worth my time, especially since I listened to it while driving to work. I do not always appreciate any audiobooks, but this stuck out. And because it did, I started listening to it. It was some of the best time I spent, especially since I was doing some other tasks in the meantime.

I'm not sure exactly how to describe this audio-book. It is chock full of information, but it all seems to be given as the "truth" or as fact. However, rarely does the author provide proof or cite reference material. He seems to know the exact dates, often including the day, of when everything happened, nearly on a week-by-week basis. After reading many historical books about the ancient Roman Empire, I am used to the authors explaining how they know what they think they know and even providing many alternative ideas.

The writing seems very uneven. Some passages sound quite well written, while many seem never to have been edited, with erroneous word usage, incomplete sentences, etc.

I will say I listened to about 3/4 of the book, just letting the information and writing style flow. I found it interesting, but decided to move on to more scholarly work.

Odd writing - Author not Historian or Classicist

Terrible writing, grammar and word choices.
Lots of information but poorly organized.
