Effective

If you are looking for a very in-depth and scholarly work, this is probably not the best book although it is very good. If you are looking for a book that is easy to deal with and is quite comprehensive without being overly pedantic then I suggest that this is a great place to start.

Marvelously insightful

If you are interested in a thorough history of Mesopotamia, this is the book for you. Easy to UNDERSTAND and thought-provoking. Everything is here--the culture, history, and well, everything you want to know and all is dated. I can't recommend it enough!

Covers History

Very well written! Not only had a detailed look at the history, but also historical facts bolstered with the archaeological finds. Kept even my attention throughout.

complete information

More casual than academic in nature, the author does draw plenty information about ancient Mesopotamia. It's accident that the various empires that rose and fell in this region still have such a strong hold on the popular imagination.

Nice History

This had a great interesting information about:The Hittites innovated the use of the horse-drawn chariot in war; their two-wheeled chariots were lighter; and when constructed them they hit the road giving them a better drive.

Awesome guide

Highlighting essentially old Ancient Anatolian People, this book is spellbinding. I could take after the thread of history from the author’s effort to discover and compile all those events that links us to our past.

full stars

Expect it to be a mile wide but an inch deep - it's more of a general reference than a fleshed-out history.it was interesting to see how the game has been played from ancient times.

Nice Summary

This is an excellent presentation of Hittite political history and social context. The prose is friendly and interested, yet very respectful and object.the author is effectively straightforward, and provides the reader with a better understanding of both cultures.

Story needs to be more diverse

The story is about a bunch of old slave owners. I hate slave owners. Rather than talk about a bunch of old IndoEuropean slave owners, they should have instead focused on the LatinX contribution to the cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Levant. Also it totally ignored the contribution of the LGBTQAAWMTIA+ community to developing the cultures of the bronze age. I can't believe someone as culturally diverse, and inclusive as Jeff Bezos allowed this to be published.

How are kids going to learn to hate whiteness when stories like this discuss King Suppilulioma II, and totally leave of the murder of Emmit Till.
