About this listen

It's the night before Hogswatch. And it's too quiet. There's snow, there are robins, there are trees covered with decorations, but there's a notable lack of the big fat man who delivers the toys. He's gone.

Susan the governess has got to find him before morning; otherwise, the sun won't rise. And unfortunately, her only helpers are a raven with an eyeball fixation, the Death of Rats, and an "oh god of hangovers". Worse still, someone is coming down the chimney. This time he's carrying a sack instead of a scythe, but there's something regrettably familiar....Ho, ho, ho. It's true what they say: "You'd better watch out."

Critic reviews

"Has the energy of The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the inventiveness of Alice in Wonderland....It has also an intelligent wit and a truly original grim and comic grasp of the nature of things." (Sunday Times)

Great reading but missing key scenes

Tony Robinson does an amazing job giving voices to each character but the removal of keys scenes such Deaths interaction with the Matchstick Girl and his discussion of belief with Susan takes away from the story. A good buy for casual readers but long time fans will be dissapointed with the abridging.

What did you love best about Hogfather?

Great story, bad audio.

Brilliant and creative story by one of the most insightful and crazy writers who ever lived.

As much as I enjoyed the story, so much did a dread the almost ununderstandleble narration.
