Singh wird beauftragt, die Computerexpertin Juliette Perotte aufzuspüren, die Verschlüsselungen für sogenannte Cogits entwickelte - digitale Gehirne, mithilfe derer man sich in andere Körper hochladen kann. Bald stellt sich heraus, dass Perotte Kontakt zu einem brillanten Programmierer hatte. Gemeinsam waren sie einem großen Geheimnis auf der Spur. Der Programmierer scheint Perotte gekidnappt zu haben.
