About this listen

Bedridden after an accident, down on his luck businessman John Adams finds himself at the mercy of Cloey Jacobs, his country bumpkin aide. Miserable and jaded, John wants little to do with the woman until she mentions an ages old mystery she's been unable to solve. Intrigued, he grows determined to unravel the puzzle himself, assisting the barely literate woman in following a string of clues hidden in classic books.

Author Jodi McClure's adorable novelette couples recovery, redemption and love with a captivating mystery in a charming, old fashioned southern town.

I found this story a delightful listen. John was bedridden having been in a motorcycle accident and Cloey was his caregiver. Their relationship blossoms as John helps Cloey solve the mystery of what her grandfather has left her in an old bunker. He has left them clues they must decipher by reading classic novels. It is a sweet, clean well written story made so much more enjoyable with the voices of Brad Wills. His narration is wonderful for both main characters in this story bringing out emotions and accents where necessary and totally bringing the story to life. A truly enjoyable audiobook. My only regret is that there wasn’t an epilogue. It would have been nice if the story had been just a bit longer and we would have learned a bit more of what happened afterwards.

Delightful
