Publisher's summary

From the coauthor of the #1New York Times bestseller Lone Survivor comes the riveting behind-the-scenes story of the three NavySEALs who captured the "Butcher of Fallujah" and, having been charged with prisoner abuse, their long road to justice.

On a daring nighttime raid in September 2009, a team of Navy SEALs grabbed the notorious terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed, the villainous "Butcher of Fallujah," the mastermind behind the 2004 murder and mutilation off our American contractors. In this no-holds-barred account, bestselling author Patrick Robinson reveals for the first time the entire story, from the night the SEALs stormed the al-Qaeda desert stronghold to the accusations and legaltwists and turns that followed to the cut-and-thrust drama in the court room where the fate of three American heroes hung in the balance.

Not going to make you feel good

This is the story of Navy SEALs who are persecuted for simply doing their job. Makes me sad to think that the U.S. Navy would commit such a terrible betrayal.

Highly recommended

This is a book worth your time. The reader is awesome. The story will renew your love for our soldiers who put their lives on the line everyday to protect us. And you appreciate the lawyers who defended them when high-ups tried to scapegoat them for their own glory and ambitions.

A good book

My only complaint is the narrator reads the text like he is a B movie actor, a bit over dramatic!

Perfidy of our Brass and POTUS

having served on subs during the Reagan years, it was hard to accept how much our military brass has gone from warriors to pencil necked, PC bureaucrats, useless political sycophants. Very sad. Equally infuriating was the level of complicity of our commander in Chicken, BHO. This country's security is now in the hands of weak men of questionable character. A real shooting war today, with any formidable enemy, will eat out lunch. Not because of the quality of our fighting men, but due to spineless leadership, or what passes for it today, (see Admiral Mullen).

Honor and Dishonor!

The book title Honor and Betrayal is incorrect in my opinion as there was nothing betrayed but there was Honor and Dishonor from the false accusations for the honorable seals from Master at Arms Brian Westinson. The ‘Butcher of Fallujah’ Ahmad Hashim Abd Al-Isawi (“Hashim”) followed the al Qaeda training guide known as the “Manchester Manual” (after the English city where a copy of it was discovered) advises, detainees should “always complain of mistreatment or torture while in prison.”
General Cleveland pursued ruthlessley the hidden motivation was, of course, the prison located 18 miles from where the camp where Al-Isawi was detained: Abu Ghraib, and all of the opportunism and hysteria that those words bring to mind. Commanders were “neurotic” about Abu Ghraib. I judge it inconceivable that that General was promoted to much higher command.
The charged Navy Seals were subjected to several lie-detector sessions but of course neither Westinson nor of course Al-Isawi were tested.
This is a really depressing account of the mistreatment of the falsely accused Navy Seals and the resulting Court Martials results with of course the lasting effects on the careers of the falsely accused Navy Seals.

Heartbreaking

Thank you for this informative book! I was shocked and appalled to once again how these honorable men were treated by...
I wish to thank all our brave and honorable people who protect us from all those evil SOB's, as well as thank those who remain objective and honest in reporting the facts.

Never Forget

Thank you for telling this story. I was blessed to meet the remarkably incredible Team IV many years ago before losing beloved Master Chief. Finer men do not exist. Thank you for giving so much to keep our love of country meaningful! Tears of love for you all!!

Awesome

Obviously an Obama Administration failure and attack on the US military's finest. Gen Cleveland should have been fired.

ASTONISHING!

IM SHOCKED AND DUMBFOUND AT HOW OUR MEN WERE TREATED BY OUR OWN GOVT BASED ON AN IRRESPONSIBLE MP THAT HAD NO BUSINESS BEING IN A WAR ZONE LET ALONE BE TASKED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF WATCHING A POW. LISTEN TO THIS AND PREPARE TO BE APPALLED!
