About this listen

Sarah J. Maas's CRESCENT CITY series begins with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.

Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life–working hard all day and partying all night–until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose–to assassinate his boss's enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he's offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City's underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion–one that could set them both free, if they'd only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and thrilling suspense, this richly inventive new dramatized audiobook fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom–and the power of love.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Hunt’s voice

Why does he sound like a 90 year old. Awful
Choice. Graphic audio needs to pick better actors

Depth

I have a love hate relationship with things that make me cry, and this book made me ugly cry, in a good way, like 4 times. SJM is such an amazing storyteller!!! The depth and girth in her stories are amazing and so good! Thank you SJM 🙏🏼🫶🏼

I laughed, I cried, I need the next book NOW

Absolutely perfect - I wouldn’t change a thing, I can’t wait for the next book. No seriously I cannot wait until July and September, and I absolutely might lose my mind while I wait for the third book. The cast was immaculate and I could see it all. Very much a movie in my mind.

Epic & unexpected

I wasn’t sure what to think at first because of the initial people/world/lore data overload, and since I enjoyed her other less modern series so much I was excited for a new series to try. Once it got into the flow of the story it was epic and drew me in. I haven’t cried in a book for a long time, but this one hit me several times. The author makes you care about the characters and become invested in their story. I can’t wait to delve into the next book in the series.

Cresent City House of Earth and Blood

ugly crying isn't even enough to explain what i did throughout this book. Everything about this book was brilliant. Executed so perfectly I was hooked from the moment all the BS started going down in the beginning.

Ohhh but I cried ….

And I cry ugly … there was lots of ugly crying! I have read the entire ACOTAR series and was told I probably wouldn’t like this series as well … Wrong! Now, I listen to my selections on Audible and always get a dramatized version when possible. I found every part of these stories compelling and enjoyable. Each incorporates suspense, romance, humor, mystery and more.i read on reviewer who said they must have “matured past” these books. Just admit that the genre does not interest you, I’m 65 years old and I’m not immature in any way. My reading tastes alike my taste in music, very eclectic. And as far as I’m concerned this book, the series it belongs to and her other series are extremely well written with well developed characters and story lines. I would highly recommend giving them a try !

Amazing but Hunt whyyy?

I absolutely loved this book!! Suspenseful, fun, and emotional. My only dislike of this audio is Hunt's voice. He sounds like an 80 yr old man and it's hard to get into the romance between him and Bryce because of it.
