About this listen
A six-month debate at work with a religious fundamentalist led to years of research and contemplation resulting in the author's journey towards Atheism. The three great monotheisms are picked apart, exposing their shortfalls via their own texts, world history, philosophy, and thought-provoking hypotheticals. If your brilliant logical brain is ready to be freed, you have come to the right place. This book will help you quell the doubt and fear associated with leaving the credulous herd.

Story
This personal story about a spiritual journey away from Christianity is an honest examination of what we can know about God. Popular religious beliefs and practices are challenged, with potential new information for those who may be questioning their faith. After formal academic study of religion, Baptist minister David Ramsey became agnostic and left the ministry altogether. In this book, he shares how his search for truth led to personal doubts about the foundation of Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus, and eventually the very existence of God.

Seth Andrews wasn't an idiot during his 30 years as an evangelical Christian. He wasn't unintelligent, nor did his IQ shift when he ultimately left religion entirely. He considered himself thoughtful, moral, reasonable, and at least as smart as the average person. In other words, he wasn't an idiot. Yet strangely, he often sounded like one.

Story
In 12 fiercely funny, mind-expanding chapters, Dawkins explains how the natural world arose without a designer - the improbability and beauty of the "bottom-up programming" that engineers an embryo or a flock of starlings - and challenges head-on some of the most basic assumptions made by the world’s religions: Do you believe in God? Which one? Is the Bible a "Good Book"? Is adhering to a religion necessary, or even likely, to make people good to one another? Outgrowing God is a concise, provocative guide to thinking for yourself.

"Forty-four percent of the American population is convinced that Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead sometime in the next 50 years," writes Sam Harris. "Imagine the consequences if any significant component of the U.S. government actually believed that the world was about to end and that its ending would be glorious. The fact that nearly half of the American population apparently believes this...should be considered a moral and intellectual emergency."

Story
Here is an impassioned plea for reason in a world divided by faith. This important and timely work delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes.

Story
Even though a growing number of Americans don’t believe in god, many remain reluctant to say so out loud. Kate Cohen argues that not only is it rewarding for those of little faith to announce themselves, it’s crucial to our country’s future. As she details the challenges and joys of fully embracing atheism—especially as a parent—Washington Post contributing columnist Kate Cohen does not dismiss religion as dangerous or silly. Instead, she investigates religion’s appeal in order to explain the ways we can thrive without it.

Story
For centuries the gospels have been cherished devotional literature, and under the guidance of preachers and priests, they’ve been understood as reliable depictions of Jesus. But even the most devout Christians stumble across sayings of Jesus that don’t sound quite right. In fact - if we’re honest - some of them are alarming. But the problem won’t go away, even if many of the faithful file these troublesome texts in a mental drawer marked “Too uncomfortable to think about”. In fact, the problem is much larger than many people suppose.

In this honest appraisal of his journey from believer to atheist, the author carefully explains the experiences and the reasoning process that led him to reject religious belief. The original edition of this book was published in 2006 and reissued in 2008. Since that time, Loftus has received a good deal of critical feedback from Christians and skeptics alike. In this revised and expanded edition, the author addresses criticisms of the original, adds new argumentation and references, and refines his presentation.

Many people today think the Bible, the most influential book in world history, is not only outdated but irrelevant, irrational, and even immoral. This explanation of the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, demonstrates clearly and powerfully that the opposite is true. The Bible remains profoundly relevant - both to the great issues of our day and to each individual life. It is the greatest moral guide and source of wisdom ever written.

Story
Seth Andrews idolized Rush Limbaugh. He listened to Glenn Beck. He read Ann Coulter. He watched Fox News. He was an evangelical Christian once tethered to right-wing media, which constantly warned of an attack on American values by liberals and secular humanists. Today, Seth is a liberal and secular humanist. This audiobook explores the Fox News culture, which both reflects and informs American conservatism, shaping public opinion on important issues like religion, government, race, foreign policy, war, protest, LGBT rights, and the Constitution.

Brings a lot to light !
This book brings so much to light for all atheist on the edge. You go through life with people pushing God onto you and looking at you like you’re crazy for not believing. A book like this just helps you prove that you are not crazy and that if you can’t see what’s right in front of you, it’s time to open your eyes!!

Question Everything
I really appreciated this book. However, I think it’s important not to put too much faith in anything, including “science.” I am an atheist, but I am also very skeptical of science. We have had science “prove” that sugar was okay and that fat made us fat, for example. When the author brought up how religious people gathered during covid and “ignored science,” I was put off but perhaps he has more knowledge now on the subject as well. As a conservative atheist, I felt a little defensive but it doesn’t discredit the information in this book. I really enjoyed listening to it and am looking forward to listening to Sam Harris next.

thorough and persuasive
Frank Lerant has done his research and has written a very compelling case against religion and theism. He gets into the core of several mainstream religions and points out all their illogical errors and problematic beliefs. He makes a convincing argument on how religion and a theistic worldview have brought more harm and suffering than progress and blessing to this planet and our species.

Very well done!
I was impressed! Although a little cautious before ordering due to an unfamiliar name and not many ratings, I am glad i listened to this.
I am an ex-christian. I was an avid believer for 40 years, till nothing made sense anymore.. I stopped believing in god about 3 years ago (age 57 at the time), and as i reflect back, i regret ever starting down the god path.
Frank speaks clearly, touches on a lot of aspects of faith, religion, reason, atheism, and goes deep enough into each area to demonstrate competence, but not too deep to lose my interest. I like the fact that he is a tradesman, maybe that helped me relate.. We use reason and evidence in all aspects of our lives, why then do we throw it out when we talk about Religion?
Frank did his homework. Lots of references and quotes. and also near end has great section on some of country's founders and their cautions against religion (at least as relates to state), and also at end names some of other great thinkers and writers.
Well done!

I found this book to be an incredible journey into the dark side of religions and their hold on the mind and systematic destruction of the human race. This book is for anyone who wants to learn about religion and more importantly, for those who want to challenge the status quo of their religion. Just about anyone looking for a good read should give this book a try.

I love this book. If you are on the fence about leaving religion then this should be the first book you read. I now have no regrets about becoming a free thinker and an official atheist. It’s taken years of reprogramming for me. This book has given me the courage to officially and confidentially “pull the plug” on religion. Thank you!
