Publisher's summary

By definition, psychology is the study of the mind and behavior in a scientific manner, and it has done so. But there is much more to the mind and behavior than that; just think of the many branches of psychology.

There are sections dedicated to learning about typical human development and the growth and learning processes of youngsters. Other fields look into abnormal psychology to understand its causes and treatments.

While some academics look into how people learn, others look into the effects that drugs and other substances have on the body and mind. In the end, psychology includes all facets of the mind, including its physical and cognitive components.

Even among those who have no real idea what psychology is all about or what exactly psychologists do, there is a kind of built-in assumption that psychology is more about the study of human behavior from a wrong-to-right perspective. Psychology is the study of the mind and human behavior, with the primary goal of assisting people in gaining insights into their actions to give them a better understanding of themselves and others.

(In the same way that most people see doctors to be treated for their diseases rather than to get praise for taking care of themselves so well that they have never needed a doctor.) Then, instead of seeking treatment for what is healthy in ourselves or others, we turn to psychologists, just as we do with doctors.

Psychology stands on its own; when you understand how individuals think, you can understand why they behave the way they do. You can see why people behaved the way they did and what you should expect them to do.

Therefore, even if it may appear unnecessary to advance psychology into the field of dark psychology, is not psychology itself pretty dark?

Do not schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, different manias, various phobias, fear, and anxiety comprise the bulk of what psychologists study and treat?

What is more nefarious than psychology? Why do people utilize dark psychology? Have people been worse recently than at any other time in history—in the past ten, twenty, or hundred years? Before, were there no narcissists? Are they sadists, then? Or charming bosses and domineering partners? Naturally, the response is no.

What is new, what dark psychology is trying to say, what it is dealing with, the people and traits it cares about the most—for some, black psychology may appear a little dull.

While psychology tries to rationalize what drives people to act as they do and provide explanations for why people behave in certain ways, dark psychology disagrees.

There are dangerous people out there who act in ways that defy logic and comprehension and whose actions cannot be justified. And even if there may not be a conclusive explanation, all the rest of us—psychologists, schizophrenics, therapists, and everyone else—can do is keep attempting to understand why.

However, with the goal of better comprehending how to deal with these negative energies and ominous characters. Our prospects of successfully assisting these people increase as we get closer to a complete understanding of why these people act in the manner they do and what drives them to do such acts. In addition to helping ourselves.
