About this listen

"Xan said I should go to the doctor so they could cut off my hand. I ignored him and placed the hit of acid on my tongue. I looked at my black and withered left hand as he warmed the heroin."

It was quirky as usual with a great spin. The raspy quality of the narrator added the perfect overshadowed element.

Love the concept and narration!

Found by happenstance and was under the impression that this was a young adult story. It is not. It is a "hard-R" adult tale that, likely on purpose, has really polarized the audience who found it.

At it's core, it's about a heroin addict who prostitutes herself to support her habit. Her hand has become necrotic and will need to be amputated. The author does a good job writing about darkness in the human soul, and my only gripe is that the ending is abrupt and the basic premise has far more potential than it delivers.

Stories like this are rare. If you have a high threshold for disgust and can tolerate Jesus without the compassion (a touch I found amusing), then this is more than worth a look.

Narrator well suited to the audio book, conveys a good sense of character and dread where appropriate.

Like CS Lewis on acid, but somehow better
