The body of Edward Rewold is discovered hanged in an abandoned warehouse and has a puzzling cryptic message: Lukas Boston's name is painted on its feet. It begins a bizarre investigation involving the stolen contents of a safe, a seaside markets populated by insane stall owners, and an evil corporation that decides on sending Lukas to the bottom of the harbor as the best solution to stop him poking his nose into its illegal business.
For a change, someone is merely trying to drown Lukas, while an old enemy only wants to beat him to death with a pool cue. Normally, bad people are only trying to shoot him, but the good times don't last forever....

Did I mention it was funny?
First let me note that I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a very entertaining story. Not too long, just right and very lively!
I especially enjoyed the autonomy of the main character, quite jealous of it in fact. Although the story was a little bit predictable, there was enough action and entertaining banter to make this a delight to listen to. Well done to the author and the narrator ;)

Great listen!
I didn't listen to book one but it was not needed to enjoy book two.
Lukas Boston was a fun character. The fact that he was an ex-cop gives him credibility but he was a total playboy and found himself in a few awkward situations.
The mystery was genuinely a good one. I absolutely did not see the whodunnit!!
I loved the narration as well. Hague was able to keep the lightness of this listen while maintaining the seriousness of the murder mystery.
All in all, a great listen.

The PI turned porn star???
Former cop, now PI, Lukas Boston is called to the scene of a murder...His client, Ed Rewold, has been found hanging in a warehouse. Several clues lead the police and Lukas that this was not a suicide. Now Lukas is investigating, not only Ed’s death, but locating the stolen contents of Ed’s safe. All while trying to thwart whomever is out to drown him.
This story is fantastic! Lukas’s sarcastic wit and dry humor certainly keeps you entertained. The supporting characters lend to his sarcasm...I particularly like the fisherman who repeatedly helps Lukas out of the harbor. Bumbling criminals, a porn star...who seduces Lukas..., a friend with benefits moving in, the head of his condo board haranguing him...you get the picture...Lukas is never bored!
Narration was perfect for this character and setting. Will definitely look for more books in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Lukas is back and better than before
Lukas Boston is back, and this story makes for a perfect sequel. While this is the second book in a series it is standalone and you don’t need to listen to the first. It will help with some of characters backstory though, so I would recommend listening to that one first. I feel like the components of the first story that made it work were amped up a bit and really push the character of Lukas further and intensifies all of his qualities that I enjoyed in the first book.
Lukas’s sardonic wit is just as good as it was and the humor doesn’t stop there. While the mystery is afoot, Lukas finds himself taking on an unconventional role that personifies his womanizing ways. Lukas even finds a love interest or two, can't wait to see where that goes. Needless to say, this story is as sexy as the first with more great floozies to tempt Lukas. Wish his gift of seeing the dead was a little bit more prevalent, felt like he had more interactions in the first story.
This plot was a lot of fun. The main mystery is great and keeps you guessing. Someone is trying to kill Lukas and he keeps ending up in the drink, a hazard when working by the docks. I really found that to be the joke that gets better each time it is told. Incompetent villains are all around and are no match for Lukas. Much like the first story, Lukas’s secondary job, really added to the overall plot. I can’t say if I appreciated his acting career more than him looking for the cat in the first story, but either way I felt that that little plot line really stole the story.
As always, it is a treat to listen to G.M. Hague narrate his own books. I love how his intimacy with the characters comes through in his narration. I wouldn’t want to hear a different narrator voice Lucas. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Former cop turned PI
Former cop turned Private Investigator Lukas Boston is sent out on another adventure when a body is found hanging in a warehouse. His investigation takes him to some seedy places with shady characters. All this is handled with quick wit and humor. Lukas Boston is a bit rough around the edges - very "in character" for a PI. The supporting characters are all well developed and their interactions are humorous.
I personally found some of the story contents a bit crass.
Great narration. I enjoyed listening to G.M. Hague's Australian accent.
This is a short listen to keep you company while taking a walk or commuting.

Really enjoy this series and characters
I really enjoy the Lukas Boston series, and the tongue in cheek humor. Lukas gets himself into more trouble than he bargains for, but through skill, ethereal help, stupid criminals, or just dumb luck, he always makes it out okay. I loved the old man that kept fishing him out of the water in this one! The interactions between the characters are at least as entertaining as the underlying mystery (No offense, Mr. May). The narration is fantastic! The delivery perfectly suits the characters and really brought me into the story, as well as made me laugh out loud more than once. I think it helps that the author is narrating his own story, because he knows how is SHOULD sound. I hope there will be more. I love these audiobooks!

Excellent!
I enjoyed both the story and the narration of this short title. Sometimes I am in the mood for the immediate gratification of a quick, condensed story, and this one delivered. The author knows how to create real, likeable characters the reader will enjoy. I loved Lucas Boston! It was entertaining, funny, and intriguing all at once. Highly recommend!

Whodunnit???
Fantastic, fun and humorous read, which made this book very entertaining! Lukas Boston is a former cop, who decides to become a private investigator. He is called to investigate the murder of Ed Rewold, due to the fact that on the bottom of Ed's feet indicated that Lukas should be contacted. As Luckas searches the residence of the deceased, he finds that several family members are living in the home and Lukas cannot help but shake the feeling that one of the family members was who actually did the killing. Lots of tongue and check humor and you will find yourself chuckling throughout.
