About this listen

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those who have fallen -- and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Love this series

I absolutely LOVED this book. I read the series a few years ago and decided to listen to them on audible.

Story held me. But the narrator...not so much.

I understand that it's a young adult novel, but the only thing that really captured me were the action sequences. I think the narrator threw me off at times and her voice seemed a bit theatrical at times. That can lend a lot to a piece, but it took away from this one for me.

In the future, I'll probably just purchase the series in a hard copy format.

Good writing for horrible unlikable characters

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change all the characters. The supposed best friend was a horrible terrible person and the protagonist we are supposed to believe is a smart person when she consistently makes bad decisions and exhibits no decision making capabilities. The adult characters are too over the line to be seen as anything other than plot devices. The protagonist is a push over, terrible role model for young women. I really like the premise of this story and still think it could be a good story, but I have no interest in the characters now. I want my time back.

Has Hush, Hush turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, the genre is still interesting to explore.

What about Caitlin Greer’s performance did you like?

I think Ms. Greer did an excellent job, maybe too good. She had a voice for each character, so I could always tell who was speaking. Unfortunately I was telling those characters to shut up quite often and question their intelligence, but if anything, that is a star in Ms. Greer's favor.

Could you see Hush, Hush being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Unfortunately I can see this being made for a movie of TV. Stars would be someone I don't know as everyone I know is too old. It will be a terrible movie regardless as the characters are all rotten people.

Any additional comments?

Too bad. I still think this is a good story. But the characters, especially the Vee, the best friend, was terrible. No one should think of a person that treats you that way as a best friend. I only listened all the way through hoping that Vee had been possessed to explain why she would be that way. In the end, she was not possessed and also she didn't learn anything. She is just a vile as before and will continue to be so.

Good

It was kind of slow and not really a put together story till the end then it all just went fast. Felt like it needed a little more depth to it. Eliot became a bad guy super fast so there wasn’t much to that part of the story line.

Patch is addictive!

I’m a die hard fan of the Fallen novels and heard this might be another good series to try! I will say Nora is a bit annoying, but so far the first book dives you into a world of fantasy and lust in all the best ways! Patch is addictive and all that things you want in a steamy bad boy boyfriend and more! Excited to read the next book! I loved the readers voice too!
