Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Second Thoughts
My second time through was better than the first. The story and overall impression is that it is an okay story. I don't think that it is the best in the genre, but a lot had to do with the delivery. Accidentally reading it has changed my perspectives.

primal attraction and real manhood
good story. though the voices sounded exaggerated and silly at times. the romance touched on primal attraction respect trust and the effects of childhood upbringing on all those things as well as real manhood.

Any additional comments?
This is the thing, the main character is in college and the narrator sounded like he was in his 60's.
So, the narration turned from mediocre to awful when he'd tried to sound young and a lot of the dialogue was a young guy speaking; a voice that sounds like an elderly speaking the dialogue of a young guy just ruined the story. 💔 And the sexy scenes definitely didn't work AT FREAKIN ALL!
A younger narrator like Michael Stellman or Michael F. Would have raised the level of entertainment for this story.

Cute
This was a cute story. It was hot and steamy. Shane was hot and domineering. Jake was a little annoying at times, but not enough to not finish the book.
Jake sister pissed me off and the step dad threw me for a loop.
I wasn’t a big fan of the narrative, it was a little whiny at times. But once you get used to it the book was pretty good.

I Got You certainly got me
I Got You began with two young men who only had each other, and had found themselves on the receiving end of all the ugliness and contempt that can be directed towards members of the gay community.
While Alberto clung to life and every moment seemed like it could be his last, Jake set himself on his path to recovery and reclaiming his life. His complicated family threw him a lifeline in the form of his older step-brother Benjamin--a man who he had never met, but one who was in a position to teach him how to defend himself. Their initial meeting sparks something in both of them that has nothing to do with family connections. The fact that Jake does not disclose that connection at the time snowballs into an emotional confession when they move forward with the physical side of their relationship.
The combination of complicated families, loyalty to a friend, a spiteful ex-partner, and the intolerance of their hometown drives a wedge between Jake and Benjamin at a time when they are considering making a new life for themselves…together. After his initial desolation, Jake finds the strength that Benjamin and trained into him, and stands up to the very person who had visited violence and hatred on him in the opening scene of the book.
Benjamin’s catch-phrase, I Got You, is never more true than when…ah, but that would be giving away far too much. Let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed the journey this book took me on, would recommend it to others, and that I will be searching out more books from Jamie Lake and Jeff Rivera, and narrations by James Talbot.

This is a hard one to review...
The storyline is fantastic. The D/s stuff is done in a very creepy way, though. the way that they keep harping on the familial connection is super weird and icky, too. The performance of Jake and all of the minor characters is decent. The performance of Benjamin is very, very awkward. It's done in the voice of what can only be described as a dirty old man. The pace of the performance in general (all characters) is way too fast, and the lack of normal pauses makes for a difficult listen. I couldn't tell if this was just really bad editing for time, though, or the performer.
There were so many places in the story where I almost couldn't even continue, and I strongly considered returning the book. The storyline itself saved the day, though. It's different and very good. This is most definitely one that I wish that I had read instead of listening to, though.
Oh, one last thing - in the beginning, there are some plot inaccuracies that are very jarring. Don't bother trying to listen back to see what you've missed. You haven't missed anything. The story itself seems to have been edited very poorly at some point, and doesn't stay on track. Thankfully, that doesn't keep happening throughout the book.

mixed feelings on this story
The storyline dipped into some light bdsm and had a far-fetched ending. I didn't like the narrator's voice for one of the main characters.

Great Listen
Really enjoyed the story. Took me a minute to get to the narrator. Something about his voive had me picturing both Ben and Jake as a lot older. His performance was good and smooth just had a hard time with his sound.
