About this listen
In December 2011, 21-year-old Victoria’s Secretmodel Kylie Bisutti stunned the fashion industry when she chose faith over fameand fortune and made the switch from supermodel to role model.
In I’m No Angel, Kylie shares her story - from her early years struggling to make it big in the cut-throat world of modeling, her big break winning the Victoria’s Secret Runway Angel competition, and the disillusionment and spiritual warfare that followed, to the moment she realized she could no longer reconcile her career with her Christian beliefs, surrendered her life to God, said goodbye to the runway, and dedicated her life to preaching a message of modesty and inner beauty.
Along the way Kylie talks about her personal struggles with inadequacy, low self-esteem, and her near-constant quest for approval in a world where you can never be thin enough, pretty enough, or sexy enough. She helps listeners understand that true beautylies within and that real fulfillment comes from knowing, loving, and serving Christ.

Princess describes the life of Princess Sultana Al Sa'ud, a princess in the royal house of Saudi Arabia. Hidden behind her black veil, she is a prisoner, jailed by her father, her husband, and her country. Sultana tells of appalling oppressions, everyday occurrences that in any other culture would be seen as shocking human rights violations: 13-year-old girls forced to marry men five times their age; young women killed by drowning, stoning, or isolation in the "women's room". Princess is a testimony to a woman of indomitable spirit and courage.

I'm no Angel
The story was very interesting and educational. I enjoyed the inserted gospel verses. I am grateful that God persists in bringing us to him and his love and salvation.

Honest, intelligent, compelling …kudos for her bravery!
As a former employee of Victoria’s Secret (no, neither as a model nor an Angel) back when Victoria’s Secret was truly a secret, I was intrigued to read this story. I ended my tenure with the company shortly after the Limited Co takeover, the introduction of “Pink” , and the Angels.
My time while I worked with Victoria’s Secret was all positive and to this day one of my favorite jobs. At the time it was a beautiful, feminine, classy, and elegant place to shop. A few short years later I was horrified to see what looked like a 14 year old girl ( an “Angel”) on a poster in the window. Mind you I was only in my 20s . It was jarring to the point of disturbing. It was neither beautiful nor sexy but horrifying.
Years later the allegations of abuse and harassment, not mention Jeffery Epstein connection, were not surprising.
I read Kylie’s story curious to hear about her experience and the mindset behind a young woman who chooses this trajectory. She did not disappoint and to be honest, her motives were just like the rest of ours, to be seen known, and loved.
I appreciate Kylie’s story because it comes full circle to the only thing that matters..,who we are to God …who sees us, knows us, and loves us more than we can imagine.
I applaud Kylie for the choice she made to be brave enough to walk away.
On a final note, this book is very well written however I feel the narrator/ reader may have been miscast. She read it in a kind of “Marilyn Monroe-esque “ breathy voice that I felt dumbed down
Kylie, which I found to be in great contrast to both the written word and Kylie’s actual voice .( Kylie’s real voice is soft but honest, strong, and conveys humility.)
Overall though, a 5 star book!

First person experience I’ve wanted to hear
I am grateful for Kylie’s vulnerable and honest accounting of her time in the modeling and fashion industry. This will be one of the resources I go through with my daughters, eventually my sons and in premarital counseling sessions.

Great story, narration drove me nuts!
Would you listen to I’m No Angel again? Why?
I would probably read the book if I wanted to reference it again. I don't think I could stand the narration again!
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the story, very thorough and interesting.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Amy Rubinate?
NO! I really couldn't stand her breath-y way of speaking and the way she tries to do men's voices was awful. I can understand that a woman has a hard time speaking like a man but it was forced and made every man in the story sound so creepy!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No it was a bit long for one sitting but I was always looking forward to my next listening session to find out what happens next.

She is an Angel!!
Kylie has an incredible story that deserves to be heard. It’s her true story about growth in truth and trust. Very relevant to today’s situation.
It’s romantic but also goal oriented and she learns disability as well as faith.
Amy has a beautiful voice so it’s easy to listen ❤️
