Strong salvation theme

This is a first read by a new to me author and I found it very enjoyable. Though the subject matter includes abuse, I thought the author did a beautiful job of bringing redemption and forgiveness into the lives of those affected.

I loved the characters as the author did a wonderful job of bringing them to life in a very realistic way.

With a strong salvation theme, this book gives hope to any reader!

I look forward to more by this author.

I was given a complimentary copy of the audiobook. My opinion is my own.

Sweet story of friendship and faith

This was a sweet historical fiction that began as a tale of two lonely souls in need of a friend and slowly became something more. I appreciated the elements of faith, especially the importance of keeping one’s integrity in the face of much hardship, and what resulted from that. The story did not go the way I expected, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I only wish that some of the changes/choices were given more time on page to develop, rather than happening off-screen and explained later. I truly felt for the female protagonist’s struggles in the latter part of the book, having been in similar situations myself. Overall, a sweet and clean story with some fun nods to historical figures and events. Note: I was given an audiobook copy of this book by the author.

I loved it!

My first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook which really brought the characters to life. I loved the way it started with John at a very young age and how it went on till he was older. This made me understand his personality when he was a little older. Elizabeth, Rebecca and Bradley were interesting characters too, although I could have slapped Bradley a bunch of times. Lol
The whole storyline and time period was one I enjoy. You will find romance, forgiveness and growing in faith in the characters.
I can’t wait to read or listen to the sequel.
If you love Christian Historical Romance you will love this story. I can highly recommend this book to my family and friends.
I received the audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Story that illustrates God's mercy beautifully!

I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, In Due Season by Sandi Robert. I enjoyed the development of the characters in their walk with Christ and with the ones that came to know Christ in the story. The love interests were sweet and beautiful illustrations of unconditional love. Well done on the narration as well!

Wonderful book filled with Bibical truths.

I truly enjoyed the book In Due Season. The author weaved Bibical truths and scripture throughout the book. The author captured the Essence of trusting God in her characters and their storylines. The book encapsulates what each and every of us deals with in our life time, what we think we want and the difference in what God has planned for us. The author stayed true to historical description of places in the book. I been to Wiiliamsburg and the book definitely transported me back to places and scenes I experienced in person. I recommend this book as a audible books so the person can experience the accents of the character which enriches the experience of the book. These comments are my own opinions of this book.

Gospel message about faith and redemption shines throughout the story.

This is Sandi Rebert’s first audiobook an I am very impressed as her talents for writing, acting, along with play writing shines through in this amazing story titled “”In Due Season.” If you love Historical Fiction set in Colonial Williamsburg that includes faith, forgiveness, redemption, salvation, a few twists and turns, lovable characters, not so likable characters, with a sprinkle of romance added in then you will definitely enjoy this story.
In this wonderful story of the Colonies, we meet John, a young lad who ended up at a workhouse though no fault of his own, but through circumstances that he had absolutely no control over. After a while, tired of the brutality forced upon him, he devises a plan of escape. Finally, after a few tries he is able to stow away on a ship headed for the Colonies, in search of freedom. Unfortunately, circumstances don’t allow him an easy voyage to freedom, but as trouble peruses him and he is almost thrown overboard. A little hope comes when he meets Mr. Nathaniel, but hope is lost again, as he cannot make the deadline in time to rescue John at that time and because of that, John becomes an indentured servant working for a Cobbler named Mr. Richardson and his son, Bradley, whom doesn’t take to kindly to John and makes more trouble for John and his situation. As the story continues, there are many more characters that we are introduced to, many that you really enjoy and others that you may want to throw out with the dirty water, The story has a few twist and turns that will keep you reading well into the night and you will experience a vast amount of emotions as the story continues to develop and pull you in further.
I loved how Sandi transformed you back to another time and another place with all the different descriptions of the sounds that you heard, the buildings that you saw, the food that you smelled and feasted upon with your eyes, the characters personalities, hardships that they endured, the differences and difficulties between the classes at that time and so much more that enriched the story even more. Sandi did an amazing job making you feel you were back in time, right next to them, and feeling all the emotions, the unfairness of the day and pain that they were experiencing. For me personally, if an author can be that descriptive with their words, that makes the story come alive and captures your emotions with descriptions that immerse you in the book like you were there physically, then that makes the book so much more enjoyable and entertaining. Mrs. Rebert also did an excellent job on researching the historical facts in the story and that is clearly evident as you are reading the story.
It is also worth noting too that every character in the book was given a different voice and personality when Sandi was reading her book. I assume she was able to do that very easily and effectively because of her God given talent of writing and acting in plays, and that made it more interesting as you were listening to it and added more enjoyable as a whole.
Another point that is of major importance to me is that Sandi clearly and unashamedly added the gospel throughout the story. I really appreciate the importance of having the gospel shared with clarity especially for those who may be listening to the book and may not know Christ as Saviour. Many authors today do not add the gospel in anymore or water it down because of fear that it will be to much. I am thankful for those who do not water it down or are not ashamed of the gospel and leave me wondering if I am actually reading a Christian Fiction book or just a clean read. With Sandi’s books I definitely know I am reading a Christian story and that is so appreciated.
Another thing I really appreciate is that Sandi read the story at a great pace, not to fast where I had to back it up and not to slow where it would be drawn out. That definitely helped in keeping my attention while listening to the story.
I definitely will be watching, waiting and reading anything that Sandi Rebert writes in the future and highly recommended this audiobook titled “In Due Season.”

I was given a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author and wasn’t required to leave a review good or bad and the opinions here are strictly my own.

Faith

Listening to the audiobook of In Due Season was a pleasure. Having the author as narrator was wonderful. The story, set in Williamsburg, Virginia was excellent. I’ve been there many times and was able to see some of the places mentioned in the story. John escaped from a work house in London, but soon finds himself in America, and again an indentured servant. Elizabeth is traveling to America on a ship with her parents to start a new life in America, but unfortunately, both die on the way over. Whatever will she do now. She arrives at a boot maker shop in Williamsburg, Virginia to try to sell her father‘s tools. Here she meets John. We are showing the difference between the wealthy and the poor, but God will keep them focused on what is good. I was given a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

Early American Historical Romance

I so enjoyed this audio book. Listening to it was like being at a play, seeing the story with your ears instead of your eyes.
it is a story of the fledgling colony of Williamsburg populated with people from all walks of life. The author's thorough research of early American history comes through in the lives of the people from indentured servants to the wealthy, to staunch supporters of the King to Colonial rebels. The story has villains, heroes, betrayal, new beginnings, romance, redemption, faith and hope. The gospel message is woven sweetly throughout.
The highlight of the audio book for me is the narration. The author narrates the story herself and she gives every single character their own voice, from the young John with his cockney accent to the Scottish brogue of Mrs. MacKinnon.
I highly recommend this book and give it a solid 5 star rating.

I was looking forward to reading this book because I live near Colonial Willamsburg.

Having walked up and down Duke of Gloucester Street many times I could picture where the boot making shop was. The characters were young each starting out with their own distresses - blind Rebekah, her brother arrogant Bradley, downtrodden John and orphaned Elizabeth. It was interesting to see how each one changed in response to their adversities. Christianity kept challenging them to grow up and stronger in their faith. I enjoyed the plot twists and was surprised by the ending. I recommend this book to those who like American history up to the revolutionary war and romance. Having read many books of this genre I felt the author had researched it well. You will enjoy it too.

Enjoyable book; Narrated by the author

I enjoyed listening to this book, especially because it was the author herself who narrated it. Narrator did a good job with the different characters' voices and the different accents. Historically set during the early years of America.
