About this listen

Elizabeth never meant to fall for Mr. Darcy. The man is an absolute ogre!

But Mr. Bingley has begged for help with his sister, causing Elizabeth to be thrown together with Mr. Darcy. Her treasonous heart enjoys every moment.

Why? Such a proud and disagreeable man cannot love! But when Mr. Darcy shows a gentler side, Elizabeth knows she is in trouble.

Darcy has had his fill of manipulative women—and he is not shy about saying so. Now he must help Charles ward off his sister’s undesirable suitor. To do this, he must work alongside the bewitching Elizabeth Bennet. Although she seems sincere, Darcy is wary of the way she makes his heart stir.

As their friendship grows, neither of them suspect that Miss Bingley has a scheme of her own. She’ll throw a spanner into the works, and no mistake.

Love, laughter, and matchmaking mishaps abound in this lighthearted Regency romp. Come join your friends from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in a new adventure!

Excellent

This really kept my interest. Most of the usual P&P characters are involved, plus a character from Mansfield Park and one from Persuasion. They added fun to the story. Mr Bingley enlists Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett to help him discourage a man who wants to court Caroline. Bingley does not trust this man. Caroline goes along with the man's attentions in an effort to make Darcy jealous (which does not work!). It is a fun story and I enjoyed it in one sitting. I highly recommend and I have listened to about 40 or more Jane Austen variations.

Delightful Comedy

A delightful lighthearted comedy featuring lots of dialogue between Darcy and Elizabeth. Very nice narration by Benjamin Fife. He has continued to voice more Jane Austen Fan Fiction books since this was published, and has become a favorite among JAFF devotees. Recommended!

Great Variation

Of course I love Darcy and Elizabeth and they’re adorable in this book. The author wrote in a few characters from other Austen novels which made it more interesting. I enjoyed the story and recommend it to anyone who likes P&P.
However I’m not sure I would recommend the Audiobook version because of the narrator.

Good Romp!

I really enjoyed this lighthearted romp. This Darcy has a more outgoing personality—more inclined to converse and tease, even playing the pianoforte. Albeit somewhat out of character than what we might be accustomed, I loved seeing this side of him. It was nice to see ODC at ease with one another. Their teasing banter entertained. Fun little story with a touch of angst supplied by Caroline.

Very good narration by Benjamin Fife. His reading is very good and I really like his speaking voice. I think his performance of the characters would be enhanced by making them more expressive. I sometimes felt there was not enough differentiation among the various characters and between the speaking and narrative portions. I did very much enjoy it though and I am being picky. I look forward to his next JAFF effort.

Another Laura Hile Fun Romp

Sweet story with twists and turns that ends up with the correct people attached. Lovely performance.

Good story

This was a diverting story. Mr Elton and Mr Bertram was in it. The narrator sounded a bit forced and in a staccato, so not the best, but I got used to it.

good, would have been much better...

...with a different reader. The story is good, a little short for my taste and fairly predictable. The most cleaver thing about it is the addition of characters to the story from other JA novels, I feel like the author did that brilliantly. Other than that, there's not much new to draw you in.

The reader is all wrong for this book, almost to the point of returning the book unfinished, and I LOVE many of Benjamin Fife's performances. Not this one.
