Pleasing book wonderfully narrated
As a Great Lakes sailor I thoroughly enjoyed this book which was a pleasing mix of one shipwright's adventure and maritime history. The narrator has a wonderful voice and superb diction.

Marlin Bree: brilliant Lake Superior storyteller
Marlin Bree spins a brilliant yarn about his midlife sailboat building project, Persistence, and concomitant quests to put it and himself to the definitive test on Lake Superior. His journalistic flair owing to years of newspaper experience and the tidbit facts about quirky locals and the industrial history of the lake, sometimes deadly and always rugged, make this book a must read for Lake Superior adventurers or even harbor hoppers like myself.

A ``Superior'' Book: Captures Its Perils & History
I have never sailed but I love to be either on the water or watch from the shore. I recently visited Lake Superior's North Shore and found the lake to be a fascinating subject. In his book, Mr. Bree vividly conveys the power and beauty of the lake. His book doesn't just relate his sailing experience but also provides interesting glimpses into its history. As he travels from port to port, I found his conversations with local residents to provide an added depth to the book.
The narrator does a great job of capturing the tone with which the book was written.
