日本では、和服を着ることを和装と呼び、和服を着る時に必要なものをまとめて和装小物と呼んでいます。
代表的なものには、帯締め、帯留め、足袋、手提げバッグや扇子などがあります。
多くの小物は、日本の伝統工芸品です。
たとえば、着崩れを防ぐために帯を上から締める役割のある帯締めには、組紐などが使われます。
帯から少し出した布地の多彩な色や風合いを楽しむ帯揚げには、絹を平織りしたちりめんなどが使われます。京都の丹後ちりめんが有名です。
手提げバッグには帯と同じ布を使用することもあるし、扇子には和紙、帯留めには蒔絵や七宝焼などの工芸品が使われることも。
