About this listen

One week of mind-blowing sex on a beautiful Caribbean island. Of all the business proposals financial tycoon Dominic Saxon has heard, Taylor Steele's is definitely the most tempting. All Taylor wants in return is for Dominic to father her baby. No strings, no commitments...just a mutually satisfying arrangement. Make that very satisfying. For a man with no intention of marrying again, it sounds ideal.

Taylor wants a baby, not a relationship. And sexy, intelligent Dominic seems like a man with perfect genes. Turns out, Dominic has perfect everything. Their "procreation vacation" is a whirlwind of sensual ecstasy. But when it's over, will either of them be able to say goodbye?

True to the book version.

What made the experience of listening to Irresistible Forces the most enjoyable?

Hearing the interaction of Taylor and Dominic when they begin the conversation of meeting the need that both had of having a child without the confines of a real relationship. I also like how it brought together two families in the series presented by Author Brenda Jackson of the Steeles and the Saxtons who were both rich in heritage and resources.

What did you like best about this story?

It has not increased nor decreased my interest in the subject matter at all. I am well past childbearing years and have children so that part did not capture my interest.

Which scene was your favorite?

Yes she does. I happen to be a huge fan of author Brenda Jackson and have almost all of her books. I believe she presented to those who are looking for this form of procreation an alternative that possibly only the rich and truly rich can engage in. It did not put me off as some of the reviews had me believing since I read the book and enjoyed the content, characters and story line.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I would love for the performance not to have been so monotone and provide the right inflections of voice depending on the scenes of their interaction versus when they engaged in the act of procreating.

Any additional comments?

I read some of the reviews of the audio of this book and those reviews caused me not to purchase the audio copy for quite some time until one day I listened to a sample for myself and found that although the narrator was female, it was something I could listen to. As a rule I prefer male narrators who give a portrayal of what is happening between the characters rather than simply reading the content. I have already read the books and want a different rendition of what the characters say, how they say it and other intangibles that simply reading the book does not provide. My overall favorite narrator hands down is Pete Ohms. I could listen to him narrate books both day and night.

Not feeling it

I loved the story line. Brenda Jackson is the best. But the narrator was boring I couldn't get into the story like I usely do when I read one of her books.

Good

The story was good. It just takes a lot to stay interested since the narrator was bad. It might have been better if they would have added a second person idk. But it was a good book

IT WAS MORE MEDIOCRE THAN MAGICAL

I don't know what let the book down more the story or the narrator. Dominic and Taylor's attempts to get her pregnant went on and on and on - don't get me wrong I'm no prude and I like hot and heavy in my listens - but whilst there was plenty of sex there was no real passion. They became more as a mechanical act rather than an erotic one and they seemed to be written to fill the pages in rather than as a spicey accompanyment to a good plot.

I usually like B.Jackson's books but this seemed to lack mentioning or describing other things like the Island, the hotel or even the yaught that enables us listeners to visualise the scenes - they landed, went straight to the hotel, had lots of sex (per hour), rented a boat, more sex, back to room, more sex, flew home, more sex, fell out, no sex, made up, plenty of sex for the rest of their lives and all narrated without feeling.

Worth a credit? It had it's few good paragraphs but, for me, it was not credit worthy - so that would be a NO.

The narration is irritating...

I love this book and own both the paperback version and the Kindle version. So when I saw this in the Audible Escape collection I was excited to experience the Audible version... It's not the absolute worst narration I've ever heard, but her style, tone, inflection, and attempt at a "slight" French accent takes away from the experience instead of adding to it like it's supposed to. Her attempt at what is supposed to be a SLIGHT accent sounds more like a hearing impaired person speaking and was distracting. Everytime she attempted it, it broke the continuity of the story. I didn't even get through their week at the island before I just decided to be done. In addition, the narrator seemed to struggle with proper inflections, pauses, and emphasis... Because of this, she sounded like a robot or automated voice through most of what I listened to. I think this story would be an amazing experience as an audible book if the right narrator(s) performed it.

Sensual

Heavy erotic scenes. Interesting story line. The ending seemed rush and could have been further developed.

Typical Brenda Jackson

The story was what I look to Brenda Jackson for. She is one of my favorite Black Romance writers. What made this difficult was nothing to do with the story, but the narration. The French accent left a lot to be desired.

Still a winner!

Another great story by Brenda Jackson. My only dislike was the automated sound of the narrator, but it didn’t take away from the story.
