About this listen

Jack London’s adventurous nature, intuitive feeling for animal life, and superb storytelling skills give his tales a striking vitality and force. Thrilling action and a sense of justice characterize the classic stories in this collection.

The Call of the Wild

A bold-spirited dog named Buck is stripped from his comfortable life on a California estate and thrust into the rugged terrain of the Klondike. There, he is made a sled dog and battles to become his team’s leader and the devoted servant of John Thornton, a man who shows him kindness amid the savage lawlessness of man and beast.

White Fang

In the desolate, frozen wilds of Northwest Canada, a lone wolf fights the heroic daily fight for life in the wild. But after he is captured and cruelly abused by men, he becomes a force of pure rage. Only one man sees inside the killer to his intelligence and nobility. But can his kindness touch White Fang?

An inspiring and Depot sitting book. London's encyclopedic knowledge, combined with the expert narration of John Lee makes this a truly worthwhile volume.

Heart warming and heart wrenching

Call of the Wild a much better story. although white fang was interesting it became a bit tedious, not excessively but did not hold my interest like call of the wild.

both good but one better than the other

heart wrenching stories but so good! there is something about stories with animals that gets to me more than with humans. both great stories of triump.

Marvelous narration

This was a tough story with a great ending. White Fang got the life all dogs deserve.

Jack London is an amazing author. I can’t recommend it enough. I can’t find words to describe how much I love his books. White Fang is my personal favorite but the call of the wild is amazing as well. John Lee is an amazing narrator with the perfect voice for these books. This is a must read.

Wonderful!!

The narrator was phenomenal! (why ahould I be forced to use more words? This is why I don't leave written reviews. Why babble on when unnecessary?)

Classic come to life

Both Jack London and John Lee are masterful. Together, they help the listener discern those things that are most elemental and nourishing in this harsh, confusing world: inner grit, an unconquerable will, and the call of the wild.

Amazing story and narration

The writing of Jack London and the reading of John Lee come together brilliantly in this set. To my mind the first story, The Call of the Wild, gets a close nod as the better of the two stories, but White Fang may win the contest for raw emotion. Both bear a relistening.

Masterpieces Both

As an old man and veteran of Alaska roughing it, these stories tell the tale of the true wild.

Jack London is best listened to.

So good to have audible options to listen to these old classics. Keep them coming.
