About this listen

With his chiseled features, effortless screen presence, otherworldly vitality, and striking blue eyes, Jan-Michael Vincent seemed destined for superstardom. However, the real Jan-Michael Vincent was a reluctant sex symbol plagued by doubt and low self-confidence, a perpetual misfit doomed to alcoholism.

Jan-Michael Vincent: Edge of Greatness covers Vincent's entire life, beginning in his hometown of Hanford, California, and details the difference between Jan Vincent, a shy, small-town boy, and Jan-Michael Vincent, Hollywood's golden boy, who was thought to be the next James Dean in the early to mid-1970s, a period in which Vincent delivered memorable performances in films such as Buster and Billie, The Mechanic, Tribes, and The World's Greatest Athlete. Featuring interviews with Vincent's childhood classmates and friends, as well as his former Hollywood colleagues, including Donald P. Bellisario, Alex Cord, and Robert Englund, Jan-Michael Vincent: Edge of Greatness reveals an eternal man-child, whose career and life symbolize the tragedy of unfulfilled potential.

The author needs to get better facts

David Grove is a guy that didn't get his story nor facts from the man who he wrote the book about. He wrote it the way he seen it and it had some facts in it but not many. He down Jan so much like he was some worthless piece of trash that should have never existed. He always was putting Jan down no matter what Jan did in life. I am a TRUE FAN of Jan-Michael Vincent's and this book about Jan and his life is a joke. If you want to buy it for collection because it has Jan's name on it then that's all it would be worth. I have been a fan of Jan's since Airwolf aired on television, I was just 6 years old and have watched several of his movies. I see AMAZING talent in Jan, unfortunately he chose a road that lead to his death. The way I look at it, everyone has demons in their life and sometimes some people never gets rid of them and unfortunately that's what happened to Jan. Jan never got the help that he truly needed and it was way too late when his health started to deterioate. I know Jan did things in life that gave him a bad name but if you are a TRUE FAN of Jan's, the good things in his life outweigh the bad. I WILL ALWAYS BE A JAN-MICHAEL VINCENT FAN!!!!! This book is such a joke!!!

sad the author was so mean and negative about Jan. Nothing about the good works he had done. you could feel the hate he had for Jan. we all have issues and demons to deal with. he was human and a great actor. may Jan rest in peace
