JINX is a fast-paced gripping thriller, with a dual timelime, dual pov (both first person and third-person).
Apart from a great murder mystery, jinx also talks about PTSD and how veterans cope with their trauma.
Some avid thriller readers might not enjoy the romance part of the book, but on the contrary I think it was necessary for aimee's character-development. It shows that she is working on herself, trying to let go of all her barriers, fears etc. (I'm also a sucker for romance so 🤷‍♀️).

Jinx by Jessica Huntley is a wonderful thrilling suspicious mystery. Candace Fitzgerald did a wonderful job with the narration, and bringing the story to life. The story is entertaining, interesting, thrilling, engaging, suspicious, mysterious, a little romantic, action packed, and shines light on mental health. There are tiggers in the story like attempting suicide, PTSD, depression, murder, abortion, and others. So if you can’t handle or can’t deal without it don’t read. Aimee Price saved a man who later was accused of murder. Did he do it? Can Aimee find out who did before it’s too late? Listen to find out. I loved everything about this. The narrator was fantastic. The story was gripping and intense. I loved the characters too. Even Jones who came across as shady and grumpy sometimes. I can’t recommend this enough.

While this is not like the other Jessica Huntley books I've read, I found the story just as gripping. What started out as a slow story following a veteran hero in a sleepy town turns into something twisted. I enjoyed the switching timelines and characters, although it got confusing at times listening to it. Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I found myself rooting for the main characters.

I had never read anything by Jessica Huntley before, but after finishing Jinx, she’s now one of my favorite authors! This book was absolutely fantastic, full of twists, turns, and wonderfully developed characters that kept me hooked from start to finish. I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator did an amazing job bringing the story and characters to life, making the experience even more immersive.

The plot had me constantly questioning who could really be trusted: the man Aimee almost married or the man whose life she once saved. The suspense, emotional depth, and hints of romance made it a well-rounded, gripping read. If you enjoy crime thrillers with a strong female lead and plenty of surprises, Jinx is a must-read (or listen)!

Aimee Price, a British soldier, is hailed as a hero after saving Jones’ life during a traumatic explosion. However, the traumatic flashbacks and loss of confidence that follow push her out of the limelight. Twelve years later, Jones is arrested for a murder he claims he didn’t commit. With a past involving both the victim and Jones, Aimee is torn. Can she believe him when Jones has a violent past? As Aimee struggles to uncover the truth, she must confront old wounds that threaten to destroy her and affect her chance at a normal life.

I loved this book! I’m giving it a solid 5 stars. It had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The suspense was gripping, and I couldn't stop reading. There’s even a touch of romance, but don't get it wrong. This is a thriller! Aimee, the main character, was so strong yet vulnerable at the same time. You can feel the weight of her past and the trauma from her military experience. I was rooting for her every step of the way as secrets unfolded with each chapter. The plot was well-thought-out and had me hooked with its twists and turns. Definitely a fun and intense read.

The Vibes It Brings:
💥 Suspenseful - Every chapter builds on the tension.
💔 Romantic Undertones - Subtle, but adds depth to the story.
🔍 Mystery - The unraveling of secrets kept me guessing.
🦸‍♀️ Strong Female Lead - Aimee’s resilience is inspiring.
💣 Trauma and Healing - Confronting the past to move forward.

Candace Fitzgerald did an amazing job narrating Jinx. She brought Aimee’s character to life perfectly. Her performance captured Aimee’s emotional depth, strength, and vulnerability. The narration was smooth, and Fitzgerald kept me engaged throughout. She truly embodied Aimee’s struggles and triumphs, adding even more to the story.

I received an audiobook copy of Jinx through BookSprout and the author. The opinions in this review are my own. If you’re a fan of gripping suspense, well-developed characters, and an intriguing mystery, Jinx by Jessica Huntley is a must-read. The story keeps you on your toes, and Aimee’s journey is one that sticks with you long after you’ve turned the last page. Highly recommend!

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Performed eloquently by Candace Fitzgerald, Jinx is a fiery, harrowing story. Moving seamlessly between the past when Aimee Price serve in the british military and the present as she struggles to handle the trauma of an unexpected experience that shattered her life in a mirad of ways. After discovering the tragic death of a military doctor Aimee once found comfort in as she was putting her broken mind back together; Aimee struggles to accept the man she saved on the battlefield could have murdered him. The haunting truth is for more disturbing than Aimee could have realized.

Highly recommended.

Audiobook review 5.0: I did enjoy the narrator. She had good voice inflections. It was difficult to keep up with now and then chapters occasionally on the audible.

Story review 3.5: I was expecting a psychological thriller but this wasn't one. I did enjoy the story although I had figured out a few of the twists before they were revealed. I found it hard to believe the omissions Aimee made on her job application were not discovered immediately. I also found it annoying she lied about the weirdest things.

The military story was interesting and was told well. I also enjoyed her friendship relationship with her girlfriends.

Jinx: Your next unputdownable thriller that's action-packed from the first page, my sixth read from author Jessica Huntley. A dark 370-page read with more twists than a Gordianian knot yet was impossible to put down. After reading The Murder Maze last week I knew I had to read more Huntley books. I already have more on my TBR list. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Under Her Skin: a killer psychological thriller next. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
