About this listen

Joel may be the earliest of the writing prophets; if he is, then he introduces the term “the Day of the Lord” as a reference to a set of final, catastrophic events that will befall Israel—and indeed all humanity in the “end times.” Illustrating his message with reference to a dreadful locust plague that occurred in the past, we shudder as God makes clear that if Israel does not repent something much greater than a locust plague will occur. Follow along as Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy casts this book’s imagery in living color and Dolby® sound on the big screens of our mind’s eye, compelling us to understand the dire message of this unique prophet.

Editorial reviews

Joel is the second of the 12 Minor Prophets of the Hebrew Bible who spends much of his Biblical real estate lamenting a plague of locusts. Dr. Bill Creasey interprets this natural disaster literally and places it in its historical context. As always, this renowned Biblical scholar couples live, dynamic readings with intimate and relatable examination of the verses. A listener could not walk away from this "global classroom" collection of Logos Bible Study without a deeper, more personal understanding of Christianity. It is recommended that students listen with Bible in hand, following the literal lines while Creasey exposes their broader significance.

Fascinating tie to Revelation, Matthew, Isaiah, and Zachariah. The consistency of books written hundreds of years apart is interesting.

Good tie in to Revelation, Matthew, Isaiah, etc.

This is another great lecture from Dr. Bill Creasy. He is always incredibly insightful and engaging. He often supplements the material with personal stories which are relevant and interesting. He has taken several trips to Israel and the Middle East where he visits the locations depicted in the Bible and he shares those first hand accounts which enables him to take you back to that point in time that the scripture is talking about.

Great lecture from Dr. Creasy

loved it. reading the prophets has been so hard but after listening to him I wonder why it was so hard. imI think all pastors should be literary professors.

great teacher

Another instance of hollow sound. Otherwise typical of this venue. As always it helps to have read the book before listening to the review.

Poor audio quality

Dr Creasy again does a great job but the audio sounds like he speaking through a tunnel and your on top of the bridge
