Surreal

I very much enjoyed this, it was so honest in describing what people's thoughts are actually like. The style is detached but yet somehow very pointed. it's a bit of a fever dream joker might have. the plot is very thought provoking, it caused me to consider my own life. deals with motivation, paradoxes, unknowns, complacency, nihilism, social hierarchy, classism,

the meta irony and humor is good as well, I enjoyed the author's style, particularly the use of repetition which is very unique and made me laugh, although initially absurd it absolutely had a deliberate effect

overall I rate it 5 stars for originality in execution, I'm so sick of literary tropes, this subverts all of your expectations, and really captures the subtle yet visceral despair present in society

This Book Saved My Life

Very real ending. Lots of underlying and metaphysical messages underneath an otherwise simple and linear story. We all know a John, or have been in his place.

Says a lot about society

A touching story about a man who loses everything and gains nothing, because he never really had anything. Very well written and worth the money.

Best Book I’ve Ever Listened To Ever Of All Time

The best part about this book is that it is, indeed, a book. Written by Paul Town, and read by Shazam Watkins. The way that Paul writes books is just the best way anyone could write books, and the way Shazam narrates books is just the best way anybody could narrate books. Paul writes books by writing them, and Shazam reads books by reading them. Listening to the book was the best listening to of a book I’ve ever listened to, or read. Why, you may ask? Because of the way that Paul wrote this book, and also because of the way Shazam read this book. It’s a simple as that. John really has nothing to do with it.

This book changed my life.

"John" really hit me in the feels. I was in a bad place, questioning everything and feeling like a hot mes. John's story was like looking in a funhouse miror. His struggles were so real and kinda like mine. The whole redemption and change stuff, no matter how much you’ve screwed up, was super inspirin. The emotional rollercoaster and the way John’s life was such a mes made me see my own mes in a new light. It was like, "Wow, if he can get his act together, maybe I can to."

Very cohesive

I love how the entire book lines together like an epic screanplay. you really feel like you’re watching a movie instead of reading a book. The dozens of complex narrative threads come together to an interesting climax.
