When the cards are stacked against you, the Kings will even the odds.
Eduardo “Lucky” Morales is a fighter, from his childhood days in Cuba to his time as a Special Forces Green Beret. Scarred by the wars of his past, Lucky has learned nothing lasts forever. Guarding his heart is second nature, and getting emotionally involved is not an option. As co-owner of Four Kings Security, Lucky works hard alongside his former brothers-in-arms and fellow Kings, but he also plays hard. Flirting with sexy Texas cowboy and detective Mason Cooper is too much fun to resist, until Mason turns the tables on him.
Mason Cooper may not be a soldier, but he’s fought his share of battles as an openly gay cop and now a detective for Major Crimes. Mason has no idea when things changed between him and Lucky, but the gorgeous, fiery Cuban has turned his world upside down. When a mistake leads to his suspension from the force, Mason turns to the least likely person for help: Ward Kingston.
Determined to keep Mason at arms’ length, Lucky is surprised to find the man at Four Kings Security. The Florida nights might be getting cooler, but the heat between Lucky and Mason burns hotter with every passing moment. Working private security can be dangerous and unpredictable, but so can falling in love.

I appreciate how Charlie wrote their story in such way that Mason being Ace's ex boyfriend did not become a big deal or came in between the cousins. Instead, it's part of a lighthearted banter. I also appreciate Charlie shining light on the societal issues of people making assumptions and judgment based on skin color. Lucky handled it quite well, very admirable and made me love him even more.
The usual awesome amount of banter, brotherhood, family and sense of humor are present in this book. And so is the light mystery and action.
Very enjoyable read! I cannot wait for King's story based on the epilogue, it's bound to be awesome.
Greg Boudreaux, your Spanish accent is muy bein and your Texas drawl especially when you say "Darlin'" it's underroo-droopin'!

They didn’t start out on the best of terms.
They have a good connection and they work so well together both in and out of the bedroom.
After lots of up's and downs, they are finally able to find their solid ground.
The narrator does an amazing job of the voices. He tries to give each person there own voice which is so nice.
another hit.

First, I loved Lucky before, but now? I simply adore him ♥ And I like how they found themselves entangled with each other almost without noticing. I like the pace of their romance, nothing felt forced or rushed. They pushed and pushed, challenged each other, have fun at the other's expense and somewhere down the line, they fell in love.
I felt a bit confused at the beginning, because I had NO idea at all which was the incident Lucky and Mason were fighting about, or who this Oscar guy was. Maybe the answer is at the short story that I saw listed on the series' page *shrugs*
And.... Mason. I understand that he was terribly young and vulnerable when the events that sent him running away from his family happen, but... it still made me really uncomfortable, particularly when we discover which the consequences of his pasts acts were.
But that issues aside, this has been, so far, my favourite book in the series. And I'm still unabashedly loving Greg Boudreaux's narration. That Texan drawl... delicious!
The best one so far.
