 Ein politisches Schlitzohr: scheinheilig, bauernschlau und stets den eigenen Vorteil im Sinn - das ist er, Ludwig Thomas königstreuer und erzkonservativer Jozef Filser. Filser, seit 1899 Landtagsabgeordneter der Zentrumspartei im bayerischen Parlament, ist ein leidenschaftlicher Briefeschreiber. Dass er dabei mit der deutschen Grammatik schwer auf Kriegsfuß steht, ändert nichts an seiner Mitteilungsfreude. Was der "Man des Volkes" aber an "Hochwieren Bfarrer... mehr Schanderl", den "Schbezi Bechler" oder Ehefrau Mari berichtet oder als "Bolidische Gedanken" zu Papier bringt, klingt oft nur beim ersten Hinhören umwerfend komisch. Dahinter verbirgt sich oft ätzende Satire.

Michael Lerchenberg erweckt den fiktiven bayerischen Landtagsabgeordneten in unnachahmlicher Weise zum Leben. Beißende Satire steht neben komischer Naivität und hält erstaunlich viele Parallelen zum Hier und Heute parat. In Filser-Manier begleitet wird die Lesung von Norbert Neugirgs hinterlistigen Sprüchen und Musik der "Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell'n".
