About this listen

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carly Phillips returns to her sexy Kingston-Dare world of rich billionaire heroes in her new Kingston Family series.

He was her first love. She was his.
They broke up to follow their dreams.
Axel Forrester became a world famous drummer.
Tara Stillman became a veterinarian.

Years later, he’s scrolling social media and sees they’re both in East Hampton, NY.
Fate? Or Coincidence?

What’s a rockstar to do other than borrow his friend’s dog as an excuse to see the good doctor.
And - show up at her office after all this time.

Axel wants a second chance with the one who got away. He’s not going to let Tara go this time.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

the male narrator has a great voice for males but should NOT do female voices

This novella was worth the credit! I feel in love instantly. It was a pleasure to listen about the journey. However quickly the story evolved, I enjoyed the narration along with the along with the HEA!!

Perfect Novella

Have read all of the books so far and this narration was difficult. Xander had ready been established as an ex Marine, a stoic character in the prwvious books, so this "band dude" voice he was given by this narrator didn't make sense and made it hard to adjust to the characters.

Narration is difficult if you've heard previous books.

The male was a misfit for the character and he made the girls sound babyish, super annoying!!

Cute story could have been longer

Didn’t care for the guys reading. He read to fast and his voice change for the women was like nails on the chalkboard.

Drove me crazy

The male narrator was a total miss. His female voice was painful to listen too.

Loved learning more about Axel.

Axel was scrolling through his Facebook and noticed his high school girlfriend, Tara, had moved across the country and was now located in the same town he was in. He wondered what had happened as when they broke up because their life was going in two different direction Axel wanted to be a famous drummer and she wanted to be a veterinarian and work along with her dad at his practice. When he showed up at her vet’s office with his band mates dog just so he had a reason to talk to her she was shocked. He asked her out on a date and at first she didn’t want to go because she wanted something stable and knows his job does not allow this. Axel is to prove her wrong.
I really enjoyed this book and to see a little bit of Axel’s life. He really peaked my interest when he showed up in his sisters story. The narrators didn’t match what my brain thought they would sound like. Axel was called Alex a time to two as well.

Good book.

It was short and sweet. Initially, I wanted Axel to have his own longer book, but we already know his and his sister's history and he and Tara already knew each other well, so there was no need to drag things out. I've enjoyed all of the books in the series so far. The narration was very good, too. I love MacKenzie Cartwright and thought she was great as always. Alexander Cendese was new to me, but was also good, but his female voice isn't the greatest. Overall I really enjoyed it. The ending was very sweet and I love stories that include furbabies. It's hard to go wrong when you've got puppies in the mix.

Axel and Tara

Alexander Censese’s female voices are cringeworthy. I hated how he voiced Tara and other females in the story. The performance was annoying and didn’t do justice to the female parts. He needs to grow this part of his performance

Male narrator not good with female voices
