About this listen

The Kabbalah Café is a collection of essays which trace the relevance of Jewish mystical concepts to contemporary life, exploring themes that pervade our daily existence, providing a mystical perspective on area that are commonly considered the domain of psychology, philosophy or medicine. Topics include the nature of self-esteem and identity, insights into psycho-physical phenomena such as anger, sadness, fear, worry, laughter, pain and pleasure, and ideas about our various sensory modalities and the structure of the body. According to the mystics, the latter two realms reveal higher truths about the hidden structure of the world. When applicable, scientific findings, clinical anecdotes or concepts that come from other wisdom traditions will be cited, providing soft support for a mystical worldview that asserts that one truth pervades reality. The ideas in these essays are designed to introduce a worldview that registers a rich bandwidth of reality beyond the one we normally see. Brought to you by an author who is a voracious reader, seasoned therapist and trained observer of human behavior, prepare to see with fresh eyes - a dose of what she calls Vitamin See - leading you on a path home, to the address of the Inner I.

This work is inspired by Christopher Phillips' Socrates Café, which introduced the relevance of concepts from classical philosophy to everyday life. I aspire to bring mystical perspectives to readers, showing how ancient wisdom can inform and deepen our lives.
