About this listen

This novella continues the story of Keller, after the wistful stamp-collecting hit man retired in New Orleans at the end of Hit & Run. A phone call and an economic downturn is all it takes to put him back in business.Keller in Dallas, a Kindle bestseller, serves too as the opening episode of Lawrence Block's brand-new bestseller, Hit Me. The story is fine. The ai generated narration was abysmal. The voice was inconsistent with previous Keller stories. He regularly emphasized the wrong syllable in words and did not change the emphasis of words in sentences. Doesn't anyone check these things? You're Audible and I expect much better.

Poor performance

Lawrence block is a tremendous author, but robot narration robs all of his characters of their depth and color, and blocks lyrical dialogue is left wooden and flat. Odd pronunciations, outright mispronunciations, and syntactical glitches make it unlistenable. If AI narration turns out to be the way Audible is going, I will cancel my membership without a second thought.

AI narration makes the story unlistenable

History is about human emotions. A computer reading it leaves the reader disinterested and disappointed.

Last of emotion

Block's book are great but I could not listen to the fake voice.
Please stop with this virtual cup. Cheap for audible but cheap is not what matters.
I would rather pay more than have the audiobook world destroyed for your profit margin.
I would rather listen to a poor narrator than a fake one.

what a shame

The story—as usual—was addicting! And the writing . Serviceable — but there are better transcription capabilities available.

A more sophisticated vocal transcription would help!

I love the Keller story’s is the only reason I finished this short. The narrator sucked so bad in all aspects!

The voice the performance and tone.

The story was a good Block / Keller story. Enjoyable, succinct and great dialogue. But the narration was terrible. I almost turned it off after the first sentence.

Terrible AI narrator

AI cannot narrate a story. No emotion. No difference in voices. This was absolutely god awful and I will never again listen to a AI piece of crap.

Technology at its WORST
