Publisher's summary

Nearly one-thousand years after his death, the dire mistakes of the great wizard Aldulan have borne their hideous fruit. Demons from the depths of the world of Arioc have clawed their way to the surface, vowing to invade the land of Termeydiun. Suggradath, King of Demons, with a voracious appetite for human suffering, musters an army of hellspawned soldiers to smite mortal-kind from the face of the planet once and for all.

Arioc’s only hope, a motley band of wizards, warriors, thieves, and plainsmen like the ranger Gadras, stand between mortal-kind and the onslaught of the demon horde. Will they band together quickly enough to correct Aldulan’s mistakes, or will the world of Arioc be lost forever?

Great story

I am not typically into this type of genre, yet I was fully interested and entertained for the entire story. I have read other works by this author, and you can really see how much he has grown in his writing. I found the characters relatable and got lost in the imagery. I liked the narrator, as well. He did a good job with the character voices, while maintaining a fairytale quality to his voice, which fits the story well.

The time of fear is at hand...

Story:
This isn't my first experience with this book—I first read it a few years ago when it was published by Double Dragon Publishing. Revisiting it in audio format has been a delightful journey. Radulski skillfully plays with traditional fantasy tropes while adding his own unique twists, creating a narrative that's both comfortably familiar and refreshingly unpredictable. The characters are well-developed, the imagery is vivid, and the battle scenes are gripping and intense.

Performance:
David Ilchert's narration is a standout feature of this audiobook. He adeptly navigates a large cast of characters, giving each a distinct voice and personality. It’s clear he put a lot of thought into his performance, and it pays off. There were times when I planned to listen to just one chapter, but ended up staying for more, not just because the story was compelling, but also because I was eager to hear how Ilchert would bring certain scenes to life. His performance didn’t disappoint.

Overall:
I'm thrilled that this book is now available in audiobook format. It was thoroughly engaging, and the narration added a whole new dimension to the story. I was especially hooked once the characters reached Tur-Loghan. If you're into fantasy with a mix of traditional and innovative elements, this audiobook is definitely worth your time.

A must-read for fans of fantasy and horror!

This novel is a wonderful cross-genre mix of fantasy and horror. With its cast of memorable characters, the author weaves a tale about adventure, sacrifice, good and evil, and true horror. A dungeon-delving delight where the characters are in true peril and the consequences are dire. It was such a great read with unexpected plot twists and the threat is real and believable. The story and narration were so good, I couldn't listen after dark. I can't wait for the next book in this series! A gifted author, talented narration, and characters who loom larger than the page. Loved it!

Entertaining story

The narration was outstanding. Excellent job of creating all the different characters in individual voices
