About this listen

“My name is Buckhunter Dornley, and I am dead.”

This isn’t your average fairy tale, and Sir Buckhunter Dornley isn’t your average knight. He’ll tell you that himself. Winning tournaments, fighting cyclopes, and slaying dragons? All in a day’s work for the mightiest knight in the empire, but that knight is about to meet his match in Mercy, the charming and outrageous princess of Merris. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and Buck falls hard. What he doesn’t know is Mercy lives under an ancient, terrible curse. When he finds out, Buck swears he’ll do anything to break it.

There’s just one little problem.

He’s dead.

For there to be any chance of happily ever after, the knight determined to rescue the princess may need the princess to rescue him too.

A fairy tale fantasy perfect for those who love traditional fairy tales with a twist.

The heroic knight... zombie?

This was a fast-paced, quick listen, but thoroughly entertaining nonetheless. I admit, I chose to listen to the book because of the whole zombie thing. The idea of the handsome, hero knight as an undead corpse struck me as potentially hilarious, and I wanted to see how the story went.
For the most part, it's the typical fairy tale, framed within an outer story. There's magic, a doomed princess, the heroic knight, quests, mysterious women with unhelpful prophecies, and, of course, a dragon nemesis. Most importantly, true love conquers all — even death!
The stories weave together nicely, and I enjoyed seeing how the whole knight turned zombie situation occurred.
Marcus Rothenberg was the perfect voice for the flawed knight who initially thought too highly of himself.

Narrator brings this story to life

I'm thoroughly enjoying this book, as the narrator has a rich, deep tone to his voice which adds so much to the story. The story flows smoothly and it is easy to imagine being there. Great job!

Amazing delivery

Great performance by Marcus in this sweet, romantic fairytale. A quick read, but well worth it for those who want a charming take on the classic knight-rescues-the-princess theme, but leaves you wondering who really rescued who.

Enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this story. It was a nice frame story and it was refreshing that I couldn't guess exactly what happens, as I am one of *those people* who constantly tries to figure out the plot. Easy listening. I regularly follow Marcus' voice acting and narrarion. I really enjoyed the dragon's voice. I am pretty familiar with their voice and that was a totally new, deep facet I hadn't heard before. They really make you feel like you aren't just listening to someone read. Sometimes I forget that I'm not listen to a full cast recording.

This was a fast-paced fairytale that I really enjoyed listening to while puttering around my house. Now, to add it to my ever-growing list of favorites!

An Amusing Fantasy

I found this story very amusing; however, I thought the prologue was confusing and didn't add to the tale. If you take the time to get past the prologue, I hope that you will find this story as charming and delightful as I did. This book had some of the characteristics that I look for in a fantasy: magic, dragons, a strong and intelligent princess, and a hero with flaws. Moreover, this story had humor, which tipped it from good to great. Marcus Rothenberg's narration was awesome and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

What A Delightful Fun Read !!

Travel into the world of fairy tales . Take a break from the heavier and suspenseful audios we all like with this delightful, funny and comical listen. Nothing like a feisty little princess to set the stage for this fanciful fantasy. The story is a love hate relationship that ( yep you guessed it) turns to love only with a little help from the magic fairytales are made of.It makes you laugh and forget your cares. You'll leave the story wishing there were more. Good story and great narrator. Sarah Ashwood, my new favorite author

Wonderful story!

Knight's Rebirth is a wonderfully written historical romance with a storyline that captures and holds the attention. The story is a sweet and romantic fairy-tale wrapped in fantasy, magic and magical creatures. The character development is excellent; I found both main characters highly appealing and uniquely charming. Marcus Rothenberg's narration was spot-on. He captured the nuances of the characters' personalities and emotions flawlessly. He literally breathed life into Sarah Ashwood's words. Knight's Rebirth was definitely worth the listen and one I'll recommend.

I couldn't finish

I couldn't finish this story. It irritated me at every turn.
It starts with one story vaguely skims through with several things seeming unlikely, then starts another story. It skipped around and tended to feel insulting.

The narrator was not consistent. Accents kept changing.
