About this listen

Previously released books Falling for the Alien Prince and Rescue, combined to make the full-length novel, Kyrio.

In a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is trying to survive, an alien species offers help - with a price tag attached. Cast back into the dark ages where women are assigned protectors, everything they fought for was destroyed with the arrival of the Andores.

And then the Tizuns limped their vessel to Earth. Scary to look at, they kept to themselves.

Stalking Andores at night, trying to find the one who murdered my family, I never expected to run into a Tizun.

His honesty was a welcome breath of fresh air.

Every night, we met at the pond. Then one day my uncle, the alien liaison, summoned me to his office, where I leaned that my friend was actually Murda, leader of the Tizuns.

And I had been promised to Jyan, leader of the Andores. A vile species, I would run away first.

And then Murda offered me a way out.

A strategic marriage of convenience, one that would benefit the both of us. I was never supposed to fall in love.

But I did.

I married an alien and everything was going great, until I heard the dreaded word: rescue. Murda’s people were coming to rescue him - them - us!

Us - because I married a freak’n alien!

How could I possibly leave Earth and be the only human in space and on Tizunai? If only I hadn’t fell in love with Murda - but I did.

I had to go....

I wish he had told me that I would have to fight for my place at his side. Literally! At least I had my secret weapon to give me a huge advantage, which I desperately needed.

Unexpected

This was a much better story than I ever thought it would be. Great story is well rounded and while the performance took some getting used to, she grew on me in the end.

So good

Loved this book so much! It was so much fun. I love that the author allowed Milly to be her true self! A lot of the times some authors will pull their female lead in. Which doesn’t help he be a true strong woman!
Don’t want to give much away but lots of fights scenes, some hot sex scenes, and a really good plot!

A Lovely Surprise !

This book is a textbook example of not judging a book by its weird cover art. What a wonderful& wonderfully narrated story. Spend that credit now!

Complete Story

I'm sort of torn about how I feel about this book. I listened to the whole thing though in one weekend (I was sick. Don't judge) and I didn't get bored (which is saying something given the length) , but also at the end I couldn't see myself listening to it again. The narration was pretty good - not a stand out but didn't take away from the story. One definite positive is that you get a full complete story. Here be no cliffhangers. Overall it's a good story - I just can't quite pin down why it isn't great.

This was good

This book felt like it had several story arcs, and each wrapped up nicely before the next began. There was also a little repetition/catchup, so I'm guessing it was originally written as a serial. IMO that added value, it didn't detract. We get to see our couple, Murda (H) and Millicent/Millie (h), meet (on a changed futuristic planet earth), become friends, solidify their bond and vanquish the first round of villains. Then, when most books would've moved on to the HEA our couple boards a craft bound for the planet Tizunai which is full of outer space conflict and resolution. Then, comes the third arc which is full of family dramalama. If I had one complaint, it's that there wasn't a 4th arc 😁, one where we got to live in the H's home world (we're only there briefly), maybe get a dose of culture shock and political intrigue. But I get it the book is almost 15hrs so it needed to end at some point.

Overall the main characters were sweet, even as they were going through the human/alien learning curve. The romance/sex was solid (🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of 5). The writing was serviceable. And I REALLY appreciated that the h was a badass who wasn't afraid to kill evildoers. No pacifists here. Millie garnered the respect of her mate's warrior race and wasn't just his mediocre human decoration or sidepiece.

Great story!

Enjoyed this story immensely; haven’t listened to a book of this length for quite some time, and this one was mostly story and very little fluff. Narrator did a good job with characters; although the addition of a male narrator with a low sultry voice would be perfect. Hope to hear about other characters in future books if made into a series.

Good listen

The characters were believable. I enjoyed the story line enjoyed the strong human female and how she concurred the respect of her husband's people one chip at a time.

Excellent story and characters

Excellent! I highly recommend this book.

The story is complex - not a whirlwind with no relationship beyond sex - but a real development of friendship and companionship before love. Unexpectedly strong female who is respected and honored for her ferocity. Respectful male that sees her for whom she is, not for her body. No objectification but true respect and passion. A good balance of steam without being constant tedium.

Excellent building of a unique culture and people with complex characters. The humans are all complete people, too. Narration is wonderful as well. An in-depth story over the course of months of relationship building.

Ok I'm gonna say 2.5 stars

rounded up, but only because I liked the MCs.
The world building had potential but ends up just being a tiny world that feels no bigger than a square mile. It's also hampered by being so predictable.
I liked the idea of MCs that don't find each other attractive at first but still manage to fall in love. There was a decent effort to make the aliens actually 'alien'.
The action towards the end was kinda cliche and unbelievable. (A lot of coincidences in this one).
So overall it was OK fluffy fun.

Safety is good it's been a long time since the H had sex. Other than that no details are given. The h only had sex once before, years earlier. Nobody special.
violence safety the h likes to assassinate the badguys. so lots of throat cutting, but not much descriptive details added
