About this listen

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Story
The Roman Republic is one of the most breathtaking civilizations in world history. Between roughly 500 BCE to the turn of the millennium, a modest city-state developed an innovative system of government and expanded into far-flung territories across Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East. This powerful civilization inspired America's founding fathers, gifted us a blueprint for amazing engineering innovations, left a vital trove of myths, and has inspired the human imagination for 2,000 years.

Good
I listened to this audible because I have an interest in the history of WWI. Among the many battles during the war to end all wars, this was transcendental because of the many losses of life on both sides compared to what was accomplished.

Great Information
I see that in this audible especially toward the end of so many young soldiers dying & what they would have meant for their country. Great audible on the strategy of the battle from both sides. A very good addition to the literature of World War I.

Knowing history is important
This audible was very informative and is something that I believe could be used as good teaching material in schools. Knowing the why's for war and how far some people are willing to take destruction is a hard truth. Tanks were introduced in this war and so many people perished.

Learn from History
This audible takes a deep dive in a relatively short audible into the details of one of the longest and deadliest battles of a war whose human cost far exceeded anything that had occurred up until that time. The Battle of the Somme also provides a good description of the human cost of the war.

Interesting Audible
I liked this audible but as you will find out The Battle of The Somme, was a series of battles that lasted about a year. This audible will tell how it started and why it started when it did. This audible tells it like it was, that war is not always glorious like in a John Wayne movie, it can be bloody, smelly from the dead bodies, etc
