Cuando en una comitiva de cazadores aparece en el pueblo Daniel Eliot, un joven rebelde que pone sus ojos en Mayga, el universo de la joven se sacude y también el de su padre. Dan representa un peligro mayor del que se piensa, debido al oscuro secreto que esconde su pasado. A partir de ese momento, una serie de desgracias pone en jaque a las autoridades de Los Notros y sus pobladores.
Como una sombra incierta, el puma que ronda a los personajes de esta historia provoca situaciones límite que afectan tanto a los dueños de cotos de caza como a los guardaparques, los nativos y a inesperados visitantes que también alteran la modorra provinciana.
