About this listen

Fakes, folk music, and ghost fires.

When legendary folk singer Lara Fairplay agrees to make her comeback debut at Pirate’s Cove’s annual maritime music festival, everyone in the quaint seaside village is delighted—including mystery bookstore owner and sometimes amateur sleuth, Ellery Page.

Better yet, Lara is scheduled to perform a recently discovered piece of music attributed to “The Father of American Music,” Stephen Foster, which will hopefully bring large crowds and a lot of business.

Several mysterious accidents later, Ellery is less delighted as his suspicion grows that someone plans to silence the celebrity songbird forever.

Another entertaining mystery in the Secrets and Scrabble series. Once again there is a bit of tension between Jack and Ellery when Ellery gets involved in another mystery. I like the up and down dynamic between Jack and Ellery. It is a nice change of pace to read about the long term development of a relationship that one-book romances don't have a chance to create. Looking forward to listening to Matt Haynes narrate the next mystery that Ellery will be asked to solve.

Good story. Good narration.

This is one of my favorite series! Enjoyed every book in the series so far. The narrating is great as well.

Yes!! Kept me captivated from beginning to end.

This entire series held my attention. The reader never knows what kind of trouble will happen with the next book. Skillfully written and narrated.

Loved this entire series!

When Book 7 arrived in the Audible store before Book 6, I got very impatient, lol. So I was ecstatic when Book 6 showed up! Now I can listen to both 6 and 7 back to back. I could listen to these books all day long, every day. Narrator does such a great job, and I feel like I'm listening to a gay version of Murder, She Wrote. I still think my favorite character is Nora, but all of them are great. If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend it!

Finally!!

This is a fun entry in this clever cozy mystery series. The cast of eccentric secondary characters are delightful and Ellery continues to be charming, smart and extremely likeable. The only problem is the unlikeable love interest and unbelievable relationship - Ellery starts excusing Jack's horrible behavior far too quickly and doesn't hold him to account enough. An arrest in less than 24 hours? Before autopsy and forensics lab results are done? And punching at a suspect, resulting in hitting Ellery? That's unacceptable. Ellery should dump Jack for the hot doctor, Robert. But the mystery was complex and surprising, and Watson steals all his scenes. Excellent narration and wonderful voice for Ellery.

Clever cozy mystery

I love this series. This book felt like an outlier. It felt like it was written out of order. The story was not that exciting and the author closed a mystery she opened in the first book in an incredibly dissatisfying way almost like she got bored with it and just decided to be done.

Not the best in the series. Could be skipped.

As always the voice performance is spectacular.

Huh? What?
