About this listen

In this tale that plucks the innermost chords of emotion, jealousy turns to envy then to backstabbing as we observe two friends who have struggled together, hustled together, and endured separate prison terms.

In the hood, a snitch is the worst thing a person can possibly be. Rolling over on your best friend, who has been with you through thick and thin, hungry and full, freedom and state bids - that’s “the cruelest lie told in silence”. While Jovan experiences the fruits of the hustle during his partner’s first stint, Bilal humbly does his time like a true soldier, taking a manslaughter charge for his one true friend. When these two are finally reunited on the streets, a chain of events lands them both behind bars facing multiple charges. Will their friendship survive the broken bond of brotherhood, or will dishonor come before death?

The tables kept turning

good story line. there were a few hiccups in the audio (certain parts repeated a few words). not enough that it mage the book unbearable but enough to notice. I think the narrator was perfect for the book. I didn't realize it was only one person. the end got a little unrealistic with the talks but I did enjoy the story.

As a DC native…

While I enjoyed the story line, the pronunciation of a lot of things like Bowie, bama, or even just the clothing lines was bad.. idk how many times I’m correcting it throughout the novel. So next time have the narrator do a lil research before mispronouncing it just sounds weird especially to someone who knows better.

This story was the shit!!

I’ll have never heard of Jason, but I can’t say for this to be the first book of his that I have read it is awesome! It had so many twists and turns it was like watching a movie a great action movie!! The performer was great on the different voices that he used. He brought the characters to life. I love the way the book ended. I look forward to reading more of Jason’s books.

Great Story and Tony Did Well

I enjoyed the story and the different or unexpected ending, for stories like these. I appreciate the human errors made by the narrator as everyone isn’t perfect. Also he has a nice voice.

Finally a good hood book where

Finally a good hood book where everyone didn't end up dead, mamed, or in prison.

Presenter has a great voice and presented each character well. There seemed to be a lot of errors that should have been edited out, but still fully enjoyed the story!

Trust no one

This is by far the dopest book I’ve listen to. The angle that Law had against JaVon was eerie but understandable he was a polished man that lost everything for holding g water and taking the bid when he lost his bro I can see where the larceny was born however Slim was a thoro God and a sweet silent killer … great book period

Awesome Read

I have to be honest. I didn’t think this was going to be a good book. It turned out to be an excellent book. I am very impressed with the author and the narrator.
