Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Mystery
Other people had stories and still got involved in mystery, and helped to solve . Not just the main character.

Ai voice lacked definition but decent story
It was hard to differentiate who was talking and what was happening at times because the AI voice couldn't infer things or do different voices or say things with emotion. It was really disappointing when there was no sense of fear or sadness to build suspense. Good story but bland robot.

excellent story
I don't care for the virtual voice. It definitely took away frpm the story itself. It needs to

Actually decent.
I didn't have high hope but it's actually pretty ok. A few inconsistencies in the story and the computer narrator isn't awesome with tone or inflection. That being said, I wasn't able to solve the mystery from the beginning and I would absolutely read book 2.

Plesantly Surprised
The virtual voice was much better than anticipated and I only had problems following along during conversations as there was no alteration between characters' voices. But overall it was relatively easy to listen to. If this hadn't been included in the Audible Plus catalog, I don't think I would have given it a try. Not sure I'd pay money for an AI narrated book, though.
The story itself had some issues with continuity and I found some parts implausible and definitely found the main character rather young and naive. There wasn't a lot of witchcraft being used or even much discussion of how it's implemented. I almost didn't go on to read the next book, but I'm glad I did. The characters and the stories improve the further into the series you go.
Between Kindle Unlimited and the Plus catalog, both the book and audio were available at no additional charge and this series kept me occupied through the weekend while recovering from a cold.

I will not listen to anything else with virtual voice.
I will not listen to anything else with virtual voice. It's choppy and very obvious It's computer read. when the main character reads it's not a bad as the rest but wise when multiple people in story are having a conversation.
The story itself was a good young teen book. Kind of edges on a witchy Nancy Drew mystery.
