Publisher's summary

This course consists of lessons centered on an audio blog that is completely in Korean. The blog takes you around Korea and introduces you to many different aspects of the country, including culture, history, folklore, arts, and more. The blog postings will also teach you all about many different cities, and what they are famous for. Along the way, you'll pick up sophisticated expressions and advanced grammar.

The lesson starts with the Korean blog at native speed. Finally, practice what you have learned with the review track. In the review track, a native speaker will say a word or phrase from the dialogue, wait three seconds, and then give you the English definition. Say the word aloud during the pause. Halfway through the review track, the order will be reversed. The English definition will be provided first, followed by a three-second pause, and then the word or phrase from the dialogue. Repeat the words and phrases you hear in the review track aloud to practice pronunciation and reinforce what you have learned. Before starting the lessons, go to InnovativeLanguage.com/audiobooks to sign up for your FREE lifetime account.

Helpful, but not as advertised

Where does Learn Korean - Level 9: Advanced Korean, Volume 1: Lessons 1-50 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Since this is an educational audiobook, it's a bit different than other audiobooks I've listened to. It's meant for language instruction, but very little instruction was provided. However, as there is so little content in Korean for advanced Korean learners on Audible, I wanted to try it out. It was good for listening practice, but not as engaging as a novel.

Would you be willing to try another book from Innovative Language Learning? Why or why not?

As an advanced Korean speaker, it was easy to understand the content, but actual instruction or information was nearly non-existant. There was nothing here that i couldn't get by listening to a podcast or talk radio. I wished there was some more focus on teaching more difficult grammar or introducing vocabulary before launching into the "episodes".

Additionally, I felt that the content was too basic and general. I would be nice if the topics were more advanced. If someone's Korean level is advanced enough to understand these audio blogs, they would already generally know the cultural information that is discussed.

What about Innovative Language Learning’s performance did you like?

There were two different narrators, and both were very clear and easy to understand. The pacing was a good challenge but not so fast that a non-native speaker couldn't keep up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it jumps from topic to topic after a few minutes. It is good for listening too in small pieces when you have free time to practice listening skills.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
