Narrated by Elves in Santa's Workshop?

When I started listening to this, I could not believe the voices of the people they chose to narrate this - especially the male voice. He literally sounds like an Elf or a Munchkin. The audio is not clear, also.
If you want to learn German from a castrato cartoon character, this is for you!

    Great for brushing up

I studied German in High School and again in College, but over the years my knowledge of German drifted away. With this program I've been able to remember the old stuff and pick up a lot of new vocabulary.

    Bad Audio

It's true, you have to raise the volume to the max in order to hear.

    Bad Audio Quality

The fidelity of sound is not that good. The introduction from Audible comes through clearly, but when the book is being read, the volume is low and not crisp. Makes it very difficult to understand the words.

Not Bad If You Had a German Class Already

Book should be included and they should spell the words too. Not great audio either. I find myself repeating chapters again and agian. Very long and tedious.

Not so helpful for a beginner

I am currently a voice major in a university and I bought this in hopes that I could better my German since I have to study songs in other languages. I took 1 year of German in 5th grade (9 years ago so I don't remember a whole lot) and I've sung some German songs. But I don't have a very wide vocabulary in German from that.

Thus, when I listened to this audiobook in the car, I didn't learn much. I am the kind of person who needs to see a word or know how it's spelled (so I can at least picture it in my head) if I'm going to learn it. In this audiobook a man just says a word in English and then a woman says the word in German twice (there's a little bit of time in between so that you can repeat it aloud yourself). However, that's not enough for me. I think it would be more ideal if they would spell the German word out first or something like that for the visual people like me. Also, even if I did just try to repeat after the woman on the audiobook, I wasn't sure if I was saying it right or not. I think that perhaps the best place to learn a language is in a classroom. That way you can see and hear the language, as well as be counseled on your pronunciation.

Perhaps if a person was pretty fluent in German or studied it a while ago and just needs to brush up on it, this audiobook would be helpful. But again, if someone doesn't have a pretty extensive background in German, I don't think this audiobook will be too helpful.

One of the worst purchases in my life

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

it is barely audible on my ipod. It is split into 38 chapters, but when you start the first chapter, it skips to the second chapter after a few seconds, and the second chapter doesn't work, nor do the other 38 chapters, it just brings you back to the first chapter, and you have to listen to the ads again before it brings you to the 2nd chapter and so on.
To hear it I had to fastforward 20 seconds int he beginning so as to skip the point where it brings me to the 2nd chapter.
    HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
    NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
IT WAS MY FIRST PURCHASE WITH AUDIBLE AND MAYBE MY LAST.

    BOUUU

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

major DISAPPOINTMENT I WANT MY MONEY BACK
