About this listen

Jeff Leetch comes from a long line of alcoholics. He is perfectly content to spend his nights at the bar with his friends, numb to the world around him. When he gets a phone call that his mother, who he hasn't spoken to in years, has died, he is tasked with going to her house to clear out her belongings. What he finds in his childhood home reminds him of his younger days and how those events have shaped the man he is today, for better or worse.

This audiobook is a dramatic coming-of-age story that follows Jeff as he faces the past he has been trying to forget and the revelations that will shape his future.

This is a sad story, with a satisfying ending...Jeff is an alcoholic...he comes from alcoholics...his friends are alcoholics...he is surrounded by disaster waiting to happen...but, he is not a bad guy, and he is not stupid...he was just raised to drown his problems in vodka...he witnessed violence and pain from a young age..and constantly needs an escape...even a dui and 28 days of rehab doesn't straighten him out..but as the people he is closest with and loves start dying...Jeff decides to get it together...Jeff is a very relatable character...and this is a solid story with good narration....2 thumbs up!!

A Somber Read

Jeff Leetch hears of his mother's death over the phone from a neighbor, though he has not heard or talked to his mother in years. Since he is the only living relative, it falls to him to go to her home and clean out what is left behind. What ensues is a ride down the memory lane of what his life was and the sad reality of what it has become.

I found the narrator to be somewhat flat in his delivery, but he had a clear and pleasant voice that was very easy to listen to. I think he did a good job of telling the story.

A very sad story about addiction but there is hope and redemption in all of us. Very sobering tale.
