I wasn’t sure I’d be able to finish this book, but about 3/4ths of the way through it finally picked up and got a little interesting.

I’m getting frustrated with authors using the trope of having a compelling female protagonist succumb to a sleazy male character’s alleged charm. It doesn’t add anything to the story. Just makes me stop listening

This book was OK. It was just hard to stay focused on it. The storylines seem kind of slow and parts and a little confusing.

I love an unreliable narrator; this book has two narrators and one has a skewed point of view. This was a good mystery with a morbid plot, very similar to Lisa Jewel’s When She Was Gone.

This story takes its time to let you in on all the secrets. The pace is perfect for the story though. Character development was spot on! Wow what a great twist. This was just one of those rare really good ominous mysteries with an interesting story to tell.

Listening to Lies We Bury was an interesting experience to put it mildly. AS I got to know Marissa/Mo and her back story I found myself growing sympathetic for her history and current circumstances. Then when the penguin from her past showed up and the bodies started dropping, I felt like a lookie-lo going by a horrific accident on the freeway. As the story continued, I became convinced I knew exactly what was going on and continued listening just to verify my intuition. Then it happened, cognitive dissonance set in and I suddenly realized there was a twist to this story I missed when it occurred which set the story I thought was unfolding right on its head.
