David Francisco
About this listen
Lionheart is an inspiring story of love, forgiveness, and the power of music, narrated by David Francisco and his wife Kristi.
David Francisco grew up living a comfortable, middle-class American life in Knoxville, Tennessee. He played sports and music and was captain of both his high school soccer team and the marching band. He later attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 2014 - but music was his real passion.
David spent the next two years recording songs, teaching piano and guitar lessons, playing in a church band on Sunday mornings, and producing and performing his own music. In 2016, he enrolled in the prestigious Blackbird Academy in Nashville.
Then, on April 27, 2016, while riding his bicycle in Nashville, Tennessee, David was hit by a distracted driver. Doctors told him he would never walk again. His life had changed forever.
Lionheart is the richly detailed and intimate account of David's crash, recovery, and return to music: From thinking he lost everything, to appearing on national television (twice), to marrying his soulmate, Kristi - to finding a life and purpose beyond his wildest imagination.
In addition, Lionheart the baudioook is unique in that there is an accompanying album of the same name. In fact, many sections of the audiobook are song titles - and the album order follows the order of the sections of the audiobook. Think of Lionheart, the audiobook, as a souped-up behind the music for the album! The audiobook also includes sections titled “The Making of...” that provide background and insight into how and why David wrote each of the 11 songs on the album.
Lionheart - the audiobook and the album - are so much more than a simple recounting of David's post-crash odyssey. Lionheart is a movement that aims to empower people to find purpose.

Story
In this poignant and uplifting memoir, Dancing with the Stars sensation Amy Purdy reveals the story of how losing her legs led her to find a spiritual path. When the Las Vegas native was just nineteen, she came down with bacterial meningitis and was given less than a two percent chance of survival. In a near-death experience, she saw three figures who told her: “You can come with us, or you can stay. No matter what happens in your life, it's all going to make sense in the end." In that moment, Amy chose to live.

So powerful!!
I was so excited when I learned that David and Audible came together to make this happen. I had already gotten the hardcover and album, but it’s difficult to stay focused and read (TBI survivor). I love how David narrates, and I especially love how he compiles everything together into this audiobook (narration, music, side notes, etc). I’m a former patient from the Shepherd Center as well, and I loved this!!!

Uplifting & Inspiring
This book is written after a profound life tragedy. But it is not sad. Being read by the author (who is one of the best I have listened to in Audible, and he is not a professional "reader") you are taken to a journey of triumph. Every chapter is so positive. In a world where crisis, negativity, and self-centered thinking are shouted daily on every media platform. This story will instead will bring a positive message of the strenght of the human spirit. It is a tender, humble, and very intimate look into a survivor who found a way to find victory in a terrible circumstance, instead of choosing to be crushed by it. Also, the authour is a musician, and when appropriate to the chapter, he will include songs he has written. This is one of my most favorite Audible books. I have listened to it twice, and will listen to it again.
