Publisher's summary

The hit series is back, to charm and inspire another generation of baby-sitters!

Lately, it seems like each of the baby-sitters besides Dawn has been singled out...and she's a little jealous. But now it's Dawn's turn to shine: Mrs. Pike has asked her to help prepare Margo and Claire for the Little Miss Stoneybrook contest!

Dawn's going to do everything she can to help her charges win, even if Margo's only talent is peeling a banana with her feet. But then Kristy, Mary Anne, and Claudia are helping Karen, Myriah, and Charlotte enter the contest, too. It's hard to tell whether the competition is fiercer at the pageant - or in the BSC!

The best friends you'll ever have - with classic BSC covers and a letter from Ann M. Martin!

Amazing! Get it if your thinking about getting it!

This book is worth your credit/money. The story and performance was amazing. Dawn is asked to help Claire and Margo Pike get ready for a pageant, but there is some challenges along the way. This is an amazing book for all ages. The other 130 books are just as good and some are Evan better!

She's beauty and she's grace...

I really liked this story. Showed the good and bad sides of competition. Also addressed the ugly side of child beauty pagent, that they can often be rigged.

The subplot was good too. Dawn's brother wanted to be with his father in California and that was effecting his behavior in school. The family dynamic resulting from divorce was sad and an important one to show.

I liked the overall lesson that Dawn's mother gave her about the beauty pagent, that the best things in life are tough, if they weren't we wouldn't appreciate them much.

5 out of 5 Tiaras.

Reader should try to sing the songs in the book.

I love these books. This story should be cute and hilarious about little girls who want to be in a pageant. A reader should paint that picture. When the characters are supposed to be singing the reader chants in a monotone. If you're going to read a book that people pay to hear, you should at least learn to sing the songs that are in the book, like Cherry Jones (Little House Books reader). Overall I found the reader's tone monotonous.

great books

I have lived these books since they came out in the 80s and 90s. This performer is uninspired. She doesn't seem to even know the tune of simple kids songs and that makes me crazy! The book says the child sang the sing well and the performer sings it off key. This was not the book for her.

And, cue, egos

Not a bad story, not one of her best though. Poor Dawn, her brother leaving the family for his dad in California. Narration is alright, not a bad job all around.

Alas...

Well, at least we got this far into the audiobook series without a total dud of a performance. But here it (inevitably, I guess) is. I kept checking to see if I accidentally had it on half-speed playback. The dead recitation of "songs" made me physically cringe every time. I really hope this isn't the start of a trend downwards in the narration quality of the rest of the series.
