About this listen

Meg is the eldest and on the brink of love. Then there's tomboy Jo who longs to be a writer. Sweet-natured Beth always puts others first, and finally there's Amy, the youngest and most precocious. Together they are the March sisters.

Even though money is short, times are tough, and their father is away at war, their infectious sense of fun sweeps everyone up in their adventures - including Laurie, the boy next door. And through sisterly squabbles, happy times, and sad ones too, the sisters discover that growing up is sometimes very hard to do.

Not enough of it.

My mother gave me this on cassette when I was eight. I listened to it so often that I wore out the tape, and was very excited to find it and download it on Audible. My problem with it is the same now as it was when I was a child - why is it abridged?! Kate Harper's performance is so brilliant, but I can't help but notice the jarring gaps where whole chapters have been ommitted from the audiobook. I really hope this exists somewhere in an unabridged form, but I haven't found it yet after years of searching.
