About this listen

A collection of three short mystery stories by Amazon international best-selling author Judy Penz Sheluk.

Death and deception: Appearances are often deceiving and that is the underlying premise in this collection of short crime fiction.

In "Live Free or Die" naive 21-year-old Emmy falls hard for 31-year-old Jack, an efficiency expert from New Hampshire who is not all what he seems.

In "Murder in the Marsh" cyclist Carrie Anne Camack discovers more than she bargained for in the fertile farmlands of Ontario's Holland Marsh.

In the final story, "The Cycopaths", a triathlon team's open-water swim training in Collingwood, Ontario, has deadly consequences.

Good shorts

These are cute short mysteries. Worked great for me when I had something quick to do and didn't want to start a new longer book! Would listen to again

A great way to spend an hour

Live Free or Tri, my third enjoyable mystery read from author Judy Penz Sheluk. Well-written short read with interesting characters. 59-minutes of enjoyment. No spoilers here, buy the book, read & review the book. I was given an Audible copy of this after reading & reviewing the first 2 books in her Marketville Mystery series. Now I'm voluntarily reading & reviewing this. Kate Tyler’s narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Loved it!

I just needed a quick listen while I finished off some housework. I initially chose this because of its length. I'm so glad I did.

These three short stories had an air of mystery and mystique. They were really well-written and well-narrated with the requisite head-scratch at the end. Loved it.

Short, easy going mysteries

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Maybe make them a little longer. Right now, the book is about an hour long, containing 3 stories. That's not enough time to flesh out the characters or tell any of the stories properly. If each story was given more time, all of them would've been much better.

Would you be willing to try another book from Judy Penz Sheluk? Why or why not?

What does act in the book's favor though, is the easy going writing. There wasn't any complicated sentence going for "literary" flair, confusing listeners. The stories flowed smoothly and I didn't have to leave everything else to pay attention to the book. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is - I would definitely love to try other books from Judy.

Do you think Live Free or Tri needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. This was a collection of a 3 short stories. Thus, it doesn't require a follow-up book. Another book with another collection of stories maybe.

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

Short but good!

Loved it as a fast lunchtime read! Would have liked a little more background in each of these stories! I liked the narrator's voice and style👌

I think I prefer my mysteries to be a little less mysterious after I have finished them.

Here are three different short whodunnit stories. The first one has a little bit of a #MeToo flavor to it. The second one made me think of the Occupy Wall Street, one-percenter days. And the third one felt like all of the characters were Feminist university professors from Ontario.

I don’t have a ton of exposure to mystery writing, but I would have liked to see who did the bad stuff at the end of each story. I probably wasn’t the right audience for this collection.

That said, I did enjoy it a little bit and the narrator did a good job.

3 unique short mysteries!

There are 3 short mysteries, and while they are short they pack a punch with the plot! Each Book is unique in every way & the narration made them all feel individual.

Book 1 leaves you with a twist at the end, never really knowing what happened, which leaves the intrigue that much greater.
Book 2 begins very calm, scenic & breezy but takes a turn out of nowhere. I loved how you never see it coming...
Book 3 was fun because it tells you early on who dies, and then we slowly get the pieces of the puzzle as to how & why...

Three Short Stories From an Excellent Author

Live Free or Tri was an enjoyable listen. First I liked the title with the Tri in it. All three of the stories were mysterious. It seemed they may have shared a theme and for a pretty quick hour ;ong listen they were good. I know that Judy Penz Sheluk is becoming one of my favorite authors. I've listened to one book in each of her series and this one as well and I love her style.

As the reader for this book, Kate Tyler did an outstanding job. She had great voice inflections with a nice tonal quality that paired well with the stories.

I look forward to the next books in her other two series.

GREAT COLLECTION OF THREE SHORT STORIES!

I've listened to and reviewed Judy's other works, and I'm continually impressed by her talent.

This is a collection of three short murder mystery stories, all of which I very much enjoyed. She's a great storyteller, and the narrator, Kate Tyler, did a fantastic job. I was captivated by these stories, really enjoyed them. Each unique, but all with some similarities. Very well-written, and definitely recommended :)
