About this listen

For fans of vampires, romantic fantasy, and dark academia.

Jonathan Evergreen is a talented sophomore at a prestigious, isolated college in Vermont, who dreams of a career in book conservation. But Jonathan’s life isn’t as rosy as it may appear. Disowned by his family after they caught him with another boy, he struggles to overcome heartbreak and support himself through his studies. To make matters worse, his advisor and the only ally in the institution run by old money and family connections mysteriously vanishes, and a new enigmatic professor, Dacian Bathory, takes his place.

Even though Jonathan is instantly drawn to Dacian, feeling a deep, intense connection between them, Dacian’s hot and cold behavior leaves him puzzled. But things change when Dacian unexpectedly helps him secure a job at the college’s Rare Books library from which an antique book recently went missing—a book that Dacian seems to have a deep interest in.

As their attraction grows, sinister events start to unfold around campus: people disappearing in the dead of night, a group of legacies showing signs of increasingly disturbing behavior, and a dead body washing up nearby, completely drained of blood. Plagued by unsettling dreams that feel too close to reality, Jonathan suspects that some of these events might be connected to Dacian.

With the stakes escalating and his own life on the line, can Jonathan unravel the truth about Dacian and confront the darkness before it consumes them both?

This book is thoroughly entertaining. If you try to explain it to anyone you may sound silly though. But Kit has a skill at description unlike any other modern author I’ve read. Gothic literature is a heavy focus of the book so I’d recommend reading Dracula before listening. It really elevates the experience.

Really lovely

I have been and will always be a lover of vampires. That love marked forever into my skin with ink. I've read so many different takes on the terrifying beautiful creatures that it's hard to read something that hasn't already been done. But THIS! It's familiar but so uniquely its own. Well written with great characters. And the performance, chiefs kiss. I wanted nothing more than for Dacion (sp) to read me every thing ever written. If you are a fan of Dracula, the history of it and where it's origins came from, this is a definite read. 10 outta 10. I'm hoping this is in print cause I need it in my collection.

So many vampire stories are all about the sex and dark, uncomfortable subservience for me. This story does have dark moments but it has beautiful character development and richness that is rare in this genre. The love story is honest but complex and the ending is fantastic. Well worth your time!

Amazing positive vampire story

Finding a new book to get sucked into after this one will be a challenge. this was such a good listen. the characters had such good depth to them and i adored the twists and turns to throughout the story. the story hit everything i love in a mystery romance.

10 hours didnt feel long enough, not because things didnt wrap up, but because i really just am rooting for the characters and would enjoy seeing what comes next for many of the characters, not just Johnathan

The narrator also did a stellar job!

finding a new book to read will be hard

This dark and beautiful story is so well done, everything from the pacing to the prose was enchanting and reminded me so much of the Song of Achilles. The narrator is one of my personal favs and they nailed this performance! Highly recommend this book and this narrator!

Lovely melancholy

I thoroughly enjoyed "Love Immortal" by Kit Vincent. I've never heard of the author before, so this was a pleasant discovery.

Jonathan has had some tough luck. In fact, readers / listeners should pay attention to the TWs in the beginning. That said, Jonathan is a survivor and plows full-steam ahead on his self-guided if unusual career path.

Dacian is brooding, elegant and Jonathan's professor of Gothic romance. He has secrets that span centuries. Enter: a budding romance set among Gothic horror and homophobia.

I'd like to interject a shout out to the narrator who gave Dacian the most cultured, erotic and sometimes terrifying voice imaginable. Wow! He voiced the other characters well, but his Dacian was spot-on!

This is a modern sort-of retelling of Stoker's "Dracula," but not quite. While I enjoy this version of what might have happened, the story dragged in places but the main purpose was finished with little fanfare. I think better editing may have helped. It was entertaining, especially listening to Dacian's voice, and I'm hoping for a book 2. Recommended!

I hope there's a book 2!

This is my first book by Kit Vincent. I loved that it was set in the 1980's, a time lived through. The description of grief was so vivid to me. While this is a love story the grief process both Dacien and Jonathan go through is a large part of the story. I loved how much of the myths of Dracula are included.
the narrator of this book had the perfect voice. sounded so much like how I imagined everyone sounded like

A retelling of Dracula

I wanted to like this. It’s as if all of the worst parts of Twilight- the instant obsession, the annoyingly average main character that completely captivates an exceptional vamp- were rewritten as an m/m pairing. The MC’s dialogue and internal monologues were so cringe that I literally lol’d multiple times. Sadly, the narrator’s choices only compounded the cringe. I’m six hours from the ending and doubt I’ll be able to finish.

Pure cringe
