Sophie Harper never expected a runaway Labrador to change her life, but Bruce had other plans. When the energetic pup led her straight into the path of Ryan Cole, a fearless firefighter with an easy smile and a heart of gold, Sophie found herself caught in something she wasn’t prepared for—love.

Their connection grows through late-night walks, playful banter, and quiet moments of understanding. But Sophie’s fear of losing Ryan to the dangers of his job makes her question if she can handle loving someone who runs toward the fire instead of away from it. When Bruce takes matters into his own paws—leading Sophie back to Ryan just when she needs him most—she realizes that love isn’t about avoiding risk. It’s about choosing someone, even when life is uncertain.

With Bruce as their ever-loyal companion, Sophie and Ryan take the leap—toward love, toward forever, and toward a future worth fighting for.

This is a beautiful but short fireman romance featuring Sophie who loses control of a dog she is fostering and runs straight into the arms of the fearless and handsome firefighter Ryan Cole. They slowly fall in love while on walks and they playfully banter back and forth. All is put on the line when Sophie starts to fear for Ryan’s life while on the job.

This is the definition of a cozy listen and Kristen Saburn’s calm voice for this story drew me in. I’m not too much of a romance type of reader/ listener so this was a little beyond what I’m used to listening to as I am normally geared to books with more action and magic. I found the story enjoyable and entertaining as I was cleaning today.
