About this listen
Lucky Hit
This guy comes out of nowhere. Africa is a space as big as several galaxies. It’s a planet unto itself. It’s a world with no boundaries. AFRICA is space itself. You go into AFRICA, and never come out. It’s the rabbit hole. It’s Alice in Wonderland. Accept what you see. Change what you can. Don’t, what you can’t. Respect AFRICA. It’s everything humanity came from, and everything humanity is going to, it’s the ALPHA, and the OMEGA. You can’t count the wars going on here because the wars keep changing. America sends its Special Forces here to train good-guys to fight bad-guys. Good luck. Your head needs to be screwed on tight or it will come off, but not so tight that you can’t look in front of you, to the sides, and behind you at the same time. And above you. And below you. And into the past. And into the future. If love is unconditional, and you’re a lover, then come to fight in Africa, because an “unconditional-mental-outlook” is necessary to stay alive here. What’s Africa like? Africa is everywhere. Special Forces lead with their head. (If you don't already have the heart, then don't be in the Special Forces.) You think on your feet (or on your belly if you're low-crawling in the bush). You believe in what you're doing (while maybe higher up they have no idea what they're doing). You believe in who you train (even if one of them is waiting to kill you). You have a mission. How you accomplish the mission is up to you using your head. Make "opportunity" your friend. Read Sun Tzu. Read Franz Kafka. Here are two short stories from Africa. (Excerpted from "Lucky"...) "It’s the funniest damn thing I can think of right now. I’m in Africa, deep in Africa. I’m after this bad-guy, I’ll call “Binky”. We’ve been trying to track Binky down for months. Nothing. Like tracking a ghost. I’m getting close to my guys, the guys I’m helping train. They’re good-guys. They’re as stressed out as I am. We go drinking. There’s a bar, if you can call it that. The bar is a drinking-place where you don’t have to be completely worried you’ll be poisoned or killed by some fuck-head. So we drink. And we drink. I’m out of it. I want to be out of it. I want to be out of the rabbit hole. I’m staggering. I get in my vehicle. I can’t keep my vehicle straight on the road. The road is blurry. This guy comes out of nowhere."
